Who Hollis Price? He actually reminds me of John Stockton the way he pushes off every friggin' time he touches the ball.
I don't go to UT sporting events anymore unless I get a free ticket. Long story. I remember the 2000 game against OU. Don't remember the outcome, but remember chanting "OU Sucks" during the timeouts. That night Edjuardo Najera knew he sucked.
We sat on the floor that game. Every time Najera touched the ball our section would chime in, "Najera sucks!" At one point Najera stood on the baseline to make the inbound pass and I was screaming in his ear that he sucked. He acted quite nervous. I think OU did end up winning that game though. I always wanted Gabe Muneke to punch him in the face. I used to have dreams about it, but they have faded away.
Great game.....anyone else think whatever ESPN is paying the Big 12 for these Big Monday games isn't enough? A couple thoughts: - Hollis Price is my new favorite player. The fact that he kept us in the game while being defended the way he was defended was incredible. - Rushing the court when you're favored by 5? Huh? - Barnes is turning into Roy Williams. Playing 11 players isn't always a good thing..... - The game in Norman could very well be for the Big 12 championship. - Quannas White is equally as valuable as Price on Hollis: Not sure if he can start in the NBA....cause he'll have to play PG. He's much better moving without the ball....but hey, if Steve Kerr can do it, I think Price, who's a much better athlete can. You used to have dreams about Gabe Muoneke?
It seems like every big home game (regardless of where it is) the fans rush the court. What can I say about it though, if I were in school and we won a big game such as that and people started ruching the court, I likely would have joined in. ...then the tourney OU sucks. -February 11, 2003. TheHorns PS- What did I tell you about getting back with me after OU played a few road games? The time has not yet elapsed, but I told you OU is a bit over rated (as is UT). Bottom line this year's bracket is going to be a bigger crapshoot than ever!
- Rushing the court when you're favored by 5? Huh? It was perhaps the biggest home game in UT history. It was, I believe, the first time top ten teams faced each other here (we had only been top-10 for 3 or 4 weeks in our history before this year). We had a history of failure against OU, including a ridiculous 0-8 streak. It was an ESPN game against our biggest rival with the most hyped up crowd I've ever seen at the Erwin Center. It was essentially a "breakout" game for us -- the kind that could have really messed up the season with a loss. That's the type of game where people rush the court. It's never happened before in the 8 years I've been in Austin as far as I can remember, and we've pulled upsets against top-10 teams before.
I don't mean to burst your bubble Major, but the court was rushed either last year or the year before. Rick Barnes was urging the students to come on to the court.

Could be -- I certainly haven't seen all the games. I was at the game vs. Illinois last year or the year before (when they were top 5) and vs. ISU during the Penders era (top 5 also) and in neither case was anyone anywhere close to rushing the court. Those are the "biggest" home wins I can remember offhand in terms of rankings, but there may have been some other biggies in there.
Major, I waited in line for 2 hours(4:30-6:30) and barely missed out on O-Zone tix, and got halfcourt student mezzaine for OU. I am going next monday around 3 ish so I can get a O-Zone seat. Mduke, Barnes unlike Williams has good bench players: Klotz is good, Harris can be a spark from deep, Ross does it all, Erskin usually is a force inside, and Boddicker has a knack for doing good things in big games(but disappears a lot of times. We used 10 guys and they all have reasons for playing. And as far as rushing the court, we have been a good but not great basketball school, OU is our rival who has owned us in the major sports lately and with TJ Ford around, this was our statement game. If we didn't rush I would've been shocked. Also, I don't condone what Baqui did, or the fact, he posted it here, but I know if I was in the O-Zone, I would not have been held back. Not saying it was justifable or right, but in the heat of the moment, it happens. Horns, Would you like me to try and get you that T-Shirt next monday?
I would GREATLY appreciate it if you could. If you would like to correspond via email, let me know and I will post my address then once you get it I can edit it out.
Okay, it's not like he was part of the AARP. The guy looked like he was in his early 40's. He deserved it for pushing me first.
A bit overrated, yes.....but when everyone's clicking, this team is definitely top 5. Agree? OU almost beat the #6 team on the road with their second leading scorer going 2-7 for 6 points, and another starter(Brown) getting 0 points and 3 rebounds in 19 minutes.
The more I look at the other teams, I am beginning to think we are right where both of us belong. Arizona- has been solid, but is struggling to beat sub par teams Louisville- great record, good win over KU, but who else have or will they play Kentucky- solid, but nothing spectacular Florida- not impressive, KU kicked their @$$, & they lost to W. Va Pittsburgh- not an impressive team lost 2 of last 3 Duke- OVER-RATED (clap - clap - clap clap clap) blah blah blah. TJ had one of his worst games of the year going 2-10 w/ 5 TO and Mouton shot 37%. Both teams played excellent D and I was shocked to see how in the 4 meetings w/ Price & TJ how poor each shoots. They basically cancel one another out. It is something like: Price: 16 pts 2.5 ast 40% TJ: 13pts 7 ast 39% It will be fun to see the last regular season game and I hope both represent the Big XII well in the NCAA tourney.
