With a bunch of transactions early on this summer, things have simmered down. has anyone heard of any trade rumors or anything else going on? i havent heard of anything in a while
If team USA keeps doing good, the rockets might pull the trigger on Kobe for TMac. And Charles Oakley would like to join the rockets. Anything else?
JL3 will be either traded for a second rounder or cash, Alston will be traded but it's getting harder because he is acting like a thug. Rockets are trying to get Landry to play a year in Europe, the other second rounder is gonna play in Greece the jewish kid is back in Isreal and Deke might or might not sign to play here. Still it looks like the Rockets will have to cut Mike Harris and maybe Justin Reed and Sura's contract will be bought out for 1 million bucks unless someone wants to give us something to improve this team
doubt you'll see anything huge in the coming weeks. training camps start in about 2-4 weeks (YES! YES!) so teams rosters are usually finalized by then. It would be minor if anything. I am not sure if the JL3 deal will actually happen because it seems so simple and small that there shouldnt have been any hold ups to it by now. (wasnt the rumor a future 2nd round pick for jl3?) i would figure jl3 to be bought out/cut from his deal, its not very big anyway if he is traded by late sept. rafer was being shopped it seemed no real takers and so i think the rockets will keep him. i can actually see him contributing to the team this year in a heavily reduced role. the one thing that has bothered me is that all the stories about him this year have been bad whereas at least last year the stories were about him hitting the gym shooting 1000 jumpers a day etc. i would venture to say that his shot probably hasnt improved much if at all esp if he is skipping out on voluntary team workouts. i do like rafer off the court he seems like a nice guy, hopefully the competition on the court brings out the best in him to help the team out even if its only 10-15 mins a game. with the FA pool dwindling i doubt you'll see any more moves outside of FA signing for the entire leagues. trades are not easy to make both teams GM want to feel they received the better end of the deal or are trying to get more out of what they are offering. in the rare case of salary dumps its different but most teams that are trading are doing so near, at or slightly over the cap. but i feel morey is still working on something else that'll come out of left field
The rafer deal came on the first day of training camp...maybe they can do that again only this time to get him out of town. Its gonna be hard to trade him if he serves time in NYC but at least he'll be out of town and the only tear drop he'll be taking will be behind a cell. God do I despise those tear drops, I cringe a little, its like watching mutombo trying to shoot a three pointer, you know there is no chance of it going in, but you still keep hope. hurts to watch really.
Houston will sign Patrick Ewing to coach Yao Ming. Carroll Dawson and Hakeem Olajuwon will be banned from speaking to Yao Ming. The coaching staff will call NJ and ask them to bench Bojstan Nachbar. Houston can't score, struggles on offense, and players are out of gas in fourth quarters; but will continue the five-hour defensive drills in practice. To counter the more athletic and physical Utah players, Houston will bench Kirk Snyder and Vassillis Spanoulis and play Luther Head and Rafer Alston. Possible Free Agents Under Consideration: Charlie Ward, Mark Jackson, Stan Van Gundy Jr. The coaching staff will call Denver and ask them to bench Marcus Camby. [Sighted] Former Houston Rockets GM Carroll Dawson, former NY Knicks GM Ernie Grunfeld, and current Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey breaking bread at their new hangout, Just NOT Very Good.
Here is a great site that I check throughout the day to make sure I keep abreast of any breaking news having to do with the Rockets. If anything happens, you will see it here first.
The Rockets haven't been mentioned as courting the following guys but IMO we need a rounded veteran PF. Webber, Brown, K. Thomas (if cut). I wouldn't be surprised if we acquired one of those guys, especially considering Adelman's history with Webber.
Ah yes those were the days. Don't forget the coaching staff calling Greece to request someone go slap V-mac's Mother! The good news is that after four seasons of 5 hour defensive drills we should still have a good defensive team next year even with the little general JVG gone.
