After many years(probably 15) I busted out Billy Bragg's Back to Basics.

That album is so great. I can't believe I've neglected it for so long. I feel like writing a "While My Back to Basics Gently Weeps" song or something.

I can't believe how great it is.

So are there any songs, albums, artists that you've recently listened to again after an extended vacation?

I got the Sparklehorse album a few years ago, and didn't like it much. I took a listen to it a few weeks ago, and have been hooked. Don't really know what changed. Also been listening to his older works as well. Really mellow and peaceful.

I just downloaded Thriller to give it a listen after all these years.

I think this is my first time hearing any of these songs on a good sound system...

Punk in Drublic I guess. I hadn't heard it in years until a couple of days ago. I love that album.

Just picked up Tears for Fears latest album Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. What a phenomenal songwriting duo -- so sad their later stuff is so slept on.

I listened to Rush religiously when I was in high school because (among other reasons) I thought Neil Peart was the greatest drummer in the history of the world.

Went to college and discovered big band/jazz/fusion etc. and phased out of Rush for many years.

Then I saw Rush in Rio on VH1 Classic last year and started getting into them again. Going to see them next week... for the first time in almost 20 years!

The Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz - a 10 LP (yes kiddies...vinyl) set that spans everything from Jelly Roll Morton to Ornette Coleman and is heavy on Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington & Charlie Parker.

The works of The Traveling Wilbury's was recently re-released.

Harrison, Petty, Dylan, Orbison, and Lynne...possibly the best supergroup of all time.

I listened to The Charlatans UK 1997 album Telling Stories again last week. It's just a great rock album. Their music before Stories and after is more dance music and nothing I'd listen to twice (in fact 1994's Up To Our Hips is generally considered their defining CD) ; But Telling Stories is just what a rock album should be.

I go through playlists on my iPod all the time and I was on this Brian Eno-Can-Kraftwerk fix for a while. However, I was listening the other day to songs by the Flaming Lips and Beck. I hadn't listened to either one for several months. Good stuff. I'm about to listen to Wilco's new album, "Sky Blue Sky" (finally got it) which will probably lead me to listen to their whole back catalog.

Good call, d. The first two Yello albums are amazing and definitely showcase their pioneering sound.

As for Naked Raygun, have you seen this (emailed to me by Rings):

I love the Charlatans. I remember hearing their single of "One to Another" back in the mid/early-90s, and that song got me into the whole brit pop scene. I remember hearing a relatively new single from them last year that was pretty good.

I didn't really rediscover this, since I never really listened to them when I was younger, but AC/DC has been on my playlist the past few years. Stuff never gets old.

They are finally preparing their old albums to release on CD. There is no due date yet, but I know someone had a test pressing from Wasted Talent Records, so it can't be too long before they are released.

Interesting timing on this thread. Just started listening to all these again, as well as a bunch of power pop in general the past few weeks.

Maybe because of the movies -- I have rediscovered how much I enjoy Johnny Cash and Ray Charles

I didn't get that email. But, I went to the Naked Raygun site and it says they'll be announcing more dates soon. Hopefully, they'll come to Texas.
