Anyone know/heard anything about our first rounder? I haven't seen anything worthwhile in the Chronicle or HPF.com about him
Man I was wondering the same thing. You would think with this being such a football town and now with the on the field activities the chronicle would give daily scouting reports on the progress or the impression our number 1 pick is making.
I read on HPF last week that he had bad toes and had to have them drained. They didnt make a big deal about it though. Heres the section and the link: • This is to answer Mad Mike in Houston's question about the selection of Williams: the team is totally behind the pick. And Williams looks good. He was in the backfield for a few plays in the 11-on-11 practices. The only thing slowing him down so far are his bad toes. He had to have both toes drained after practice. When he walked into a room to sign at least 100 items for the team's marking department, he had both toes bandaged. link Its the third paragraph down in the article.
LOL I think he was being sarcastic. You just got punk'dz. When's the first preseason game? I'm really excited in a way that I wouldn't have predicted after the draft.
Oh, I've got news on Mario... <embed width="410" height="332" src="http://www.ifilm.com/efp" quality="high" bgcolor="000000" name="efp" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="flvBaseClip=2686716" />
At the time, Super Mario was wearing the frog suit, so he really only had two separate toes as the feet were all webbed together. The doctors were much more concerned with his actions during practice, when he was launching fireballs straight from his nose, somehow.
I've been pretty disappointed with the (lack of) coverage of these "organized activities" the Texans are holding. Not much in the chronicle, sports talk, or nightly sports reports. I guess people are too busy talking about Barry Bonds.
Yeah, it's surprised me as well. While I recognize that any reports of these practices without pads have little to no usefullness as far as getting an idea of how good these players are I would think that, with all the excitement building up to the draft, that we would at least get a tiny blurb every day about what is going on. Haven't really even seen that.
OK, well maybe I spoke too soon. TEXANS SUMMARY Ready and willing Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson is ready to add punt returner to his résumé. For the past week in practice, Robinson has been lining up alongside Phillip Buchanon as a return specialist during special teams drills. Buchanon remains the Texans' No. 1 punt returner, but Robinson appears as if he will earn the No. 2 spot. "It's something I expect to do," Robinson said. "Hopefully I get a couple opportunities. It's not something that I look to do each time they call a punt return, but maybe I'll get a couple of chances to show my skills back there." The last time Robinson returned a punt was in 2003 as a senior at South Carolina. He returned three punts for 44 yards that season. In high school in Athens, Ga., Robinson returned a punt and kickoff for a touchdown. "We're going to put the best guys back there," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I'm not worried about protecting this guy or that guy. If the best guy out there on game day is Dunta or Jerome (Mathis) or Phillip — whoever helps us win the game, that's who we're going to put out there. There's no saving anyone." Cowart update Texans middle linebacker Sam Cowart was injured the first day of practice last week and is still sidelined with a sore calf and sore Achilles. He could return as early as next week but is definitely targeting the start of minicamp on June 7. Cowart has been resting his leg and spending most practices alongside his fellow linebackers and learning the system. "You just hate missing the work, because each practice you get to look at your film and production," Cowart said. "It's been last week and a couple of days this week, and those days you just can't get back." Cowart is slated to be the Texans' starting middle linebacker, considering Kailee Wong remains sidelined because of knee surgery. Veteran free-agent pickup Wali Rainer has been practicing with the first team in Cowart's place. Out to get better Special teams coach Joe Marciano is working closely with veteran kicker Kris Brown this season in hopes of helping Brown improve his overall numbers. Three times in Brown's seven-year career, he has connected on 80 percent of his field goals. The last time was in 2003, when he was 18-for-22 with the Texans. Brown was 26-for-34 last season. He missed field goals in two games that were decided by three points. "He's been a very solid kicker in this league for many, many years," coach Gary Kubiak said. "And nobody is harder on themselves than Kris is, so I expect him to bounce back and do a great job." LINK
JuLiO-R-, can I ask, by chance, what you did at the NFL Rookie Shoot? Do you work for a trading card company?
