i'm studying to get my licenses right now, and i'm wondering if anyone here is a licensed broker. i could use all the help possible if anyone is "versed" in this... btw, i'll probably bump this a couple of times for the next few days, in case someone misses it... thanks...
series 22 & 63 securities broker. limited partnerships, to be exact. series 7 or 39 works, as well... oil and gas investments...
Dearborn has a 1 week class over off Hwy 8 and briar forest. I took the class, took all the practice questions off the disk, then just studied the areas I was weakest at afterwards. This was for the series 7. The questions on the seven is not that hard, just it covers so much material. The test I was cursing at was the 63, way less material and questions, but they try to trick the hell out of you.
really? i've had people tell me that the 63 was the least complex of the tests, but the 7 was the most difficult (along with the 39). hmm. when you say that you took the questions off the disk, do you mean you wrote them down or did you actually make a copy of the disk? also, if you acquire the 7, do you absolutely have to have the 63? i would think the general securities license would be sufficient, no? oh...and for the record, the 22 is a b**** to study for...so dry. so, so dry...
I've completed the Series 63. The test was a total joke. We had a couple days of classes for it, during which I paid zero attention. I scored an 85% with basically no studying. It's essentially a useless test, but you need it to work most jobs for a broker-dealer/securities firm (even if your job has nothing to do with buying/selling stocks, like mine did).
The seven is the most difficult, simply becuase of the massive amount of information you need to know. But they do not attempt to trick you on the questions. As far as passing, if you understand options and Muni's, your halfway there. The 63 has the least amount of information, but they try to trick with long poorly written paragraphs full of double negatives. Read the questions carefully. I'm not sure if you bought the dearborn package, but it comes with a disk and written practice questions. I used mainly the disk and would just take test after test. After each test you would get a breakdown in percentages on what you got right. I then would go back and reread areas I was weakest at. Next up on the plate is the 24, but maybe around August for that one.
