Planning to use this over running as my cardio alternative. I get injured easily while running and yeah it might be my shoes but i dont like running in general anyway. So i might as well try swimming and get a full workout in. Any swimmers here who have experienced losing a lot of weight doing this? Thats really my goal. To get ripped and lose weight. I know most of that is diet, but i dont get enough cardio regardless and i hope this change in my routine will help me lose some weight.

I've been swimming most of my life. It's great exercise and if you haven't been doing it for a while you'll feel sore afterwards. You'll never burn as many calories swimming as you would, say running but once you're in shape you can pretty much swim all day.

I've been doing some triathlon the last couple years and people who are newer swimmers often say they they feel dumb or think they look bad in the water (I'm talking about form, not body image). Nobody except Rob Lowe is looking at anyone else in the pool and judging them. Go out and get a good workout in.

I don't know how much swimming you've done but if you're looking for a tip I would say to relax. Newer swimmers are often tight in the water and when you're tight your head goes up and then your lower half drops and that's exhausting. If you're a comfortable swimmer disregard that. Good luck.:)

    I like swimming, too.

(BEFORE you joke about it, no, I didn't swim through the river to get here, we all know where the shallow parts of the Rio Bravo are to get here, so I walked across. :p )

My knees are bad, too, and get easily injured, so I swim whenever I can, and lap whenever I can to get my in-water sweat on.

I would suggest getting some lessons. Once you learn to breathe correctly and hopefully flip turns, you can go non stop.
Don't be afraid to switch it up with some kicking too.
