Yeah, pick an airline winner and in two years you can thank me by buying me a car or other nice gift......You're welcome. Seriously, the trick is finding one that will make it thru this. Mark my word, this country relies on airline travel. This is a no brainer but the risk is a crapshoot because who knows who'll make it thru. My bets: Delta, American & United. But gotta get in before the gov's bailout happens. This is a great buying time for stocks right now. You just have to have faith and patience.
I have discovered the secret of the stockmarket and how to make money on it. If you want to know send me $10 via paypal. Well you know what forget about the $10 I like you guys so here's the info for free (but please dont let others know as this is very secret information): . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Buy Low, Sell High
There was an old book called The Money Game by "Adam Smith" the pseudonym for an old money manager. For many years the only thing I had read about the stock market as I got it at a garage sale and I had no money to invest. It said that it is an insiders game and the little guy is sure to be screwed when the market gets to the point where your average Joe is talking about stocks. Unfortunately even though I remembered that I still didn't believe it and like the other Joes I lost a lot when much of the smart money got out of tech and most other stocks last year. This Tuesday or Wednesday USA today had a good article about l10 lessons from the recent debacle. Among others low cost mutual funds are still the way to go for most investors. Also diversification helps. I'm tempted to buy airline stocks, too. I'd pick Southwest and Delta.
If there's any time to bet on the S&P 500 or index funds, now would be it. At least that's where I'm putting my money... I'm not saying I'm doing the right thing. I also bought some more shares of companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, etc. but most of my money is going into index funds. Speaking of which, has anybody gotten into QQQ (The NASDAQ 100)? I bought into it when it was at about $28 or $29/share a few days ago.
www.behadstockexchange.com A better place to put your money can't "be had." Please send your investments to me, and I'll be sure to put your money to good use....er, I mean put it to work....for me.
Diversification in transportation {public and private}.......A good example is the Union Pacific Railroad. People and companies are looking at alternatives to transporting goods and services and are looking for alternatives to their shipping needs.............although I could be bias, I work for this little company in Omaha,Ne....

I use Datek for online trading, and I like it. I believe there is no minimum money amount to get started.
It depends on what you're looking for you disgrace-to-the-human-race. If you're looking for access to mutual funds and stocks, TD Waterhouse is among the best. If you're looking for just cheap trading of stocks, Datek or Ameritrade are among the cheapest. I use Datek and TD Waterhouse although I may be consolidating both of those into my TD Waterhouse account. If you want to get reamed (and you seem like the type that would enjoy that), try Charles Schwabb or somesuch.
Initial minimum deposit at Datek is $500 unless that's changed recently or you got in on some type of promo.
