I'm thinking of mebbe heading out to Best Buy sometime soon and picking up a couple of CDs. I so do not pay attention to what's out anymore. Personally I like rock/hard rock/alternative stuff. I would list the stuff but I think I'd start listing too much crap and it'll get boring to read. I was thinking of looking to see if there was a new Foo Fighters album out. Saw a new video and the song reminds me of their first album. White Stripes any good? I'm clueless. Last really good album I got was System of a Down. And by album I don't mean a cd with 3 good singles and a bunch of crap thrown in, I mean a cd chock full of good songs, with maybe only 1 or 2 bleh songs. Nothing pisses me off more when I buy a cd because of a badass single, and the rest of the album flat out sucks. If you have any suggestions for me, cool. If not, I don't give a ****, just list some good new albums that you like or are looking forward to in the near future.
I've heard clips of Fireball Ministry and I must say, it was pretty f*ckin' good. I like the latest Coldplay album.
Bomfunk MCs - "Burnin Sneakers" (due out 11/5/02)...I liked their older CD, "In Stereo". If you like dancy/hip-hop lyrics with a great beat, check out their old stuff. They used to play them all the time on "The Beat" when DJ Mark D was the featured DJ. Jungle Brothers - "All That We Do" (10/29/02)
Butch Walker - "Left of Self-Centered" $9.99 at Best Buy. Pure hook-filled sing-along-in-your-car ROCK. Get your money's worth. Also did you ever get "Atomic" from LIT? I remember you said you liked "Lipstick and Bruises" I think (could've been someone else). Anyway, ditto the above.
If your willing to try something new there is a german band called Rammstein. They sing their songs in German but they sound pretty good. They took german techno and mixed it with American Metal. Download a song or two to see if you'll like it or not. My favs are Engel, Du Hast, and Feuer Frei. Check them out.
Good call, coma, on Coldplay. I'm also getting the following: "Sea Change" - Beck "A Hundred Days Off" - Underworld "The Isness" - Future Sound of London "Conjure One" - Conjure One plus I have gotten but have yet to listen to "Up" by Peter Gabriel. A little description of each: Beck has been talked about here before and is one of the more influential alternative artists out there today. "Sea Change" is supposed to be a dark and depressing type CD (I can't wait for my copy to arrive). Underworld and FSOL are both techno/electronica artists that have released several albums to high critical praise in the past. Underworld has gone from 3 people to 2 and "A Hundred Days Off" is their first 2 man CD. "The Isness" is supposed to have more world music sounds than other FSOL CDs and be a completely different type of album for them. Finally there is Conjure One. Rhys Fulber who was one half of both Front Line Assembly (FLA) AND Delerium with Bill Leeb is behind this project. The Conjure One self-titled CD is supposed to be very similar to Delerium's "Poem". I got the limited edition which includes a bonus CD of various mixes. So, I am also eagerly anticipating it. As for "Up" by PG, I have not had the chance to listen to it yet, but I understand that it is a lot like PG3 (Melt) CD in that it is very dark and brooding. I'll give a review of it and "Sea Change" here when I get a chance to really listen to those 2 CDs.
The Vines album was pretty good too, it' only 9.99 so I took a chance even though I had only heard one song. After hearing the whole album, I still don't understand the Nirvana comparisons.
Here's one A-Train suggested to me. Jennifer Love Hewitt sure looks good on that cover, but I don't think I'll be running out to buy her CD.
Dayum, I just heard about a great one coming out November 19th. Get ready for... Audioslave aka Chris Cornell and the former members of Rage Against the Machine. I just heard their first release, a song called Cochise and it friggin rocked!!
Weren't they gonna call themselves Citizen? I han't heard the album name before, but audioslave sounds pretty cool.
That's what I last heard too. Here's a link to their website where you can listen to Cochise. http://www.audioslavemusic.com/
the new coldplay album is very good. i bought it off the strength of "in my place" even though i didn't like parachutes at all. anyways it hasn't been out of my cd player this whole week.
TheFreak, you should check out my pal's band, Form of Rocket. They should have a release on a subsidiary of Island's by the end of the year. Simply put, they ****ing rock.
My fave-o-rite band: Bon Jovi- "Bounce" October 8. Haven't heard anything on it except "Everyday" buy I'm a completist and they rock.
It came out in June, but I really like this album: Phil Lesh and Friends: There and Back Again. Phil Lesh was the bass player for the Grateful Dead, and he now heads a fabulous jam-band (Phil Lesh and Friends), but this CD is NOTHING like GD or the jamming concerts. It's pretty solid southern-ish rock. Reminds me of a mix between the Eagles and the Allman Brothers. VERY surprisingly good.
If you like rock music...the band name is Queens of the Stone Age...the album is Songs for the Deaf...it came out about a month ago...Dave Grohl played drums...Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees sings about half of the songs...just saw their live show in Houston on Friday with And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, which kicked major ass! It's not bubble-gum rock and it's not death-metal garbage...just rock. It's because of them that I can truly say rock is NOT dead.......but if you don't wanna buy it that's fine too. Some others... the afformentioned And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead - Very loud and energetic with great guitar playing and drumming. Wilco (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot) - Might not be up your alley, but still the best album of the year in my opinion. Beck (Sea Change) - This isn't no Odelay or Mellow Gold...its very slow and somewhat depressing. It's kind of a "mood album" if you know what I mean. Very well-written songs
