I'm coming into town and taking a "friend" to the rockets-mavs game tonight. Is there any good bars downtown near the toyota center (inside the stadium?) that we could go for a quick drink before or after the game?

The BUS is right across the street from Toyota Center. It was pretty dead when I went there before a game last year, but the drinks are much cheaper than what you'll find inside.

I like the BUS. But I 'm a fan of crappy old bars, so...

I'll be there at about 5:30 tonight actually.

It depends on what kind of place you want to go to. The BUS is okay, it is definitely not upscale, but they do have cheap drinks. I have been there a few times before Rockets games. It is just your regular bar, no frills.

If you are looking for something alot nicer, go to the Hilton after the game. I have been there a few times after the games. Drinks are a bit more expensive, but the atmosphere was really nice. Plus you get to see some of the "working ladies" of the city. Well, atleast I all the times I have been there.

Diaganol (there's no way that's how it's spelled) from the SW corner of the arena.

    Midtown happy hours

West Grey you have Buffalo Wild Wings, Wet Spot, Front porch among others.

If you like nicer places, Pub Fiction on Smith or El Patio. There is also a little Woodrows on Brazas. Many others but I am a season ticket holder and those are some of the ones I like. Since tonight is an early start time maybe the BUS would be OK.
