I hear Jack Nicklaus is a natural lefty but swings the club right. I tried looking for it on line but i did not find anything. I did find that Mike Weir is a natural righty that swing the club left and Phil Mickelson as well. Is anyone else out there like that? I am a natural lefty. i shoot left handed, throw left handed, play tennis left handed, and punt left footed. i kick a soccer ball right footed, swing the baseball right (but learned left as well..i think im more comfortable with the left side now). Now while playing golf... I play right handed. My instructor told me that there are many golfer like that. Anyone else as confused as me?

Good friend of mine writes/pitches/plays pool/throws darts left handed, but plays golf/bats right handed.

That describes me except for the pool part, that I do right handed. Both my parents were right handed, so that's how I was taught.

Golf is just a goofy game of opposites. For a right handed golfer the dominant hand in the swing is the left hand. If you don't pull the club with your left hand and just let the right hand passively trail along I guarantee you you will not hit consistant golf shots. If your swing path is is pretty good but you hit at the ball with your right hand you will hit a hard left duck hook because your right hand will rotate the club face closed.

I'm right handed and so dominant right handed I can't do anything with my left...except play golf. If I were completely begining to learn how to swing a club I think I would play golf in the left handed position so that the dominant hand in the swing would be my right. Not only that, but it would set you up to learn how to putt in the "forward hand low' method with your dominant hand.

Now, I've never really had any golf teacher suggest teaching golf that way and I only know the few professional golfer annecdotes about people who have done it but it seems reasonable to me. In the old days they used to teach left handers the righty set up because there wasn't much left handed equipment around. Michleson says he learned the lefty set up (even though he is right-handed) because he learned the game as a child watching his dad so his moves were the mirror image of his dad.

So: Rotate your hips to pull your large back muscles to pull the middle two fingers on your left hand. Your right hand stays passive , in the cocked postion until the point of contact, when it releases down the line (the line of inteded flight) The ball is on the center of the clock, you are standing at 9 o'clock, the ball flight is 12 o'clock, your take away is over 7 o'clock and your release is over 1 o'clock .

    Me:

Left handed: write, draw, shoot pool, frisbee, hold wee-wee

right handed: swing golf/baseball, throw & catch, basketball

When I first picked up a guitar it felt natural to me left handed, but my dad bought me a regular one when i was young so I now play right handed. I wish I would of learned left handed though, maybe I wouldnt suck so bad.

Im a natural righty. I play golf righty, but once tried to tee off left handed in hopes of fixing my wicked sick slice.

Baseball I bat left because I have piss poor hand/eye coordination when batting right.

I shoot basketball right handed, but can almost shoot as good left handed, except for long 3s.

Out of all of them, I think trying to shoot a basketball with your "off" hand is by far, the hardest.

Same here. Worked great for when they made us kick with our "opposite" foot in kickball

I'm a righty all the way in everything, but I have found I can swing a bat/golf club fairly well lefty.

I can shoot a basketball OK lefty.

I can NOT throw anything lefty however.
