In light of my questioning of Feigan offering Mobley scenarios such as... "...a two year or longer term contract with a 2nd yr opt-out" what do you make of Aldridge's comment about McGrady: that said clause cannot exist! I don't know about anyone else, but when I read ESPN comments like that followed by Feigan vagueness, I can't help but question them all. So, am I allowed to stick my layman neck out and keep questioning paid journalists. Or should I just be safe and give them the benefit of the doubt as aelliott suggests. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2000/0712/630598.html I'm with Mango...I don't play it safe. Bring on the Paid Journalist Police!!!!!!
aelliott will check in about 7:45 am to respond to this. I am going to sleep. I didn't know that I was as brave as you portray me to be. Mango ------------------ 1. I want to say yes to the Opt out clauses. This is under the old one (agreement), but Shaq had an Opt out clause that was after the 98-99 season. I don't think the Players Association would let the league completely get rid of Opt out clauses. Anyway, don't you have to have an Opt out clause to take full advantage of Bird Rights once you qualify for them? First of all I'm a little worried that Mango is keeping track of my schedule. As far as the McGrady quote, I'd agree that it can't be correct. I don't believe that there is any possible way to become a free agent after the 3rd year of a 6 year deal. The difference between Alderidge's quote and Feagan's is that Feagan's could easily be explained by assuming he meant option year not contract termination. In Alderidge's case, neither of those would allow for him to be a free agent after 3 years. ------------------
don't ever underestimate the ability of Mango to learn something about you, especially if he knows your email. It is easy to read 4-6yrs into Feigan's statement of "longer term w/2yr opt-out", making it an Aldridge statement as above. Did he really mean "longer term" as in 3 years? ...The Misinformation Police just can't make those assumptions. --- 1. Get your box scores correct 2. We need accurate salary numbers 3. hp-3 is longer than 2. Maybe Aldridge means that Stoudamire is a Rocket, and TMax is only signing for 4 years (with a player option on the 4th year). There's gotta be some former Raptors connection, I think poor David has a bad Canadian source. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. NIKE--correct. So why wouldn't Feigen just say 2 or 3yr, rather than 2 or longer. You are too forgiving. Not Misinformation Police material I'm afraid. ----------------- 1.
