I just want to share the file with my close friends and family. (it's some family videos from last year) I get the impression that if you use one of the big trackers, you have to post it for the entire community, which I don't really want to do since what I want to send is home movies. I tried looking up how to set up your own tracker, and it looks like a mess. Am I going about this all wrong, or do I pretty much have it right? Thanks in advance, DH PS - I already tried YouSendIt, and it didn't work. It's crashed out 3 times, now.
how big is the file? if its less than a gig, might as well just use yousendit.com, less of a hassle and pretty much private.
It's 560 megs, and I want to send it to probably about 8-10 people. It took about 7 hours to upload to YouSendIt, and my sister's download has crashed 3 times in a row at about 25%. I figured bittorrent would be nice since I'm sending it to several people and you can resume downloads in the middle.
ah ok, well that sucks, they have been pretty reliable for me, have you tried http://www.omnilect.com/ EDIT: nevermind, there is a 20MB limit for each file
If you get desperate, have you thought about just burning the movie to CDs and snail mailing 'em out? A little more effort required on your part, but definetly easier on their end...
naw it aint over. Suprnova is pretty much dead, the site that about 80% of the bit torrent users used to get their downloads, but they are plenty out there people use. Hell, people on this board use it to download Rockets games.
No, they shut suprnova down. Which is what they do to any site that has substantial amount of users. This is why I stick to chinese bt sites now since they are foreign and out of control of U.S. or just unlicensed animes.
