Are there any people who are really into Music Systems and Home Entertainment systems? If money was no object, what kind of equipment would you have for your home? ------------------
I used to subscribe to a couple of AV mags because I was going to buy a house and turn a room into mini-theatre. Some of that stuff is expensive as hell, too. But then I did do some research and ended up getting the Energy Encore speakers with the Pioneer Elite 39tx receiver. It cost me as much as the Lifestyle 30, but it is atleast 10 times better! ------------------

My pc sound system is made by Klipsch (ProMedia v.2-400). Four hundred watts of power from your pc seems overkill... I was talking about my Klipsch forte II's, but I also have the pro-media for my PC. I also have a dolby digital sound card, so I'm missing a speaker with the promedia's. Anyway, I bought an audiosource 100 watt monoblock amp and a Klipsch SC.5 center channel speaker that sits on top of my monitor. It's pretty cool to lay in bed and watch DVD's on the PC. To be honest, I'm somewhat disappointed with the Promedia. They have a crisp sound, and they're certainly better than a lot of the crap out there, but it's obvious that the 400 watts is a peak rating as opposed to RMS. They crank for a PC, but I guess I'm used to my home theater setup. ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
Pole, I've set aside money already for a home theater when/if I buy a house. Klipsch is definitely one of the names I'll be looking at when it comes to the speakers. As for the "400 watts", according to Klipsch that's RMS and not peak. The Encore system I got from EBay for around $900. That is not bad, because they usually sell for around 1400+ in regular stores. The Pioneer Elite 39tx I got from the Home Theater Store for around $1800. The Dolby Digital aspect of the reciever is just awesome. Dts and the Thx systems are not bad either. It comes with this touch screen remote that is kind of hard to use. I wanted to set up everything myself, but I decided against it and hired a pro instead. ------------------
I am getting more and more into high-end audio, but I don't consider myself an audiophile yet. It's too expensive a habit. I say go with headphones, you can get amazing performance for much less than comparable speakers. ------------------
