Antonio Davis goes into the Stands did anyone just see this? apparently his wife was in the stands where he went so maybe someone was messing with her but that fool just straight climbed the scorer's table and hopped into the crowd and went about 10 rows up like he was just taking a stroll. i thought i was seeing some sort of weird reenactment of the artest situation or something from another game. then i realized i was watching it live and he just went into the stands. he was obviously perturbed about something, but after the artest situation and suspension you'd think no one would dare go into the stands. he got ejected but you have to think some sort of suspension will come just for doing it even though nothing really happened. it was kinda surreal.
[ESPN.COM] Davis runs into stands during overtime, ejected http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2297640
This was quite the insane game. Mo Taylor and Chris Duhon were ejected for a separate incident as well! I don't know how I feel about the Davis incident. Its hard to see from the replays exactly what got him so mad.
That's just not right, the players should know better. The president of the NBA player's association, I don't know who it is now, should make a statement or something telling his fellow players that this type of behavior is not allowed, as it can result in some serious consequences if a fight breaks out.
u know, at some point.. when u only have a split second to make a decision. none of that really matters.. whats more important to u? your family or your job? good thing nothing really happened but if it did what would YOU do?
i really dont blame him what he done, he just felt that his wife was being threatened and had to react. He is not a nutcase, he knows what he is doing, and I respect him for doing it. He knows that he is going to be punished for it, and he woun't complained one bit.
I dont blame Davis for what he did. He thought his wife was in danger so he reacted, there was no security around to stop it so he had to react, any man would.
He did say there wasn't enough time to notify security about the situation. I don't blame him at all. If I were him and I thought my wife were in danger, I'd most likely do the same thing.
I did respect Antonio for doing that until I found out his wife Kendra can be a hothead at times. Apparently, she caused a lot of commotion (and displayed a I'm too good for you, I can do whatever I want attitude) when fans around her complained she was standing too much and yelling incessantly. I hope Davis gets suspended for 5+ games. You can't go into the stands. If any player is worried their wives will be threatened, then they should be sitting in a suite.
That's interesting. Hadn't heard that yet. I say a 3-5 game suspension. He was justified in what he did, he didn't try to mess with a single person, but if you're going to suspend guys for walking onto the court instinctively during a fight.... Evan
Last time I checked, she was at a sporting event. Yelling and standing too much was a good thing in sports if I remember correctly? I go to Rockets games and yell and stand all the time. The only time I bring it down a notch is when i'm in the lower bowl with all the stuff shirts that just want to sit there and play with their blackberries and not cheer. She's in Chicago rooting for her husband and his team shouldn't mean that people around her could 'threaten' her or even physically harmed. And who is going to buy their wives suite seats when it's only them (and maybe their kids) that comes to the games? I have yet to see any clips of wives being in the suites.
hahaa yeah after I read that post I continued reading to see if anyone would point that out, I finally came across your post at the very end.
I no not care if his wife is a hot head. If people are threatening her, i would do the same. If a player would think his wife is in danger, and he doesn't run into the stand, then i would lose all respect for that player.(Family comes first)
I'd ask the opposing team's security to take care of the matter swiftly and responsibly while my team is winning in overtime.
i feel like we're lacking a lot of the key details that would help us to know if this was reasonable or not. absent that...the man has a great repuatation, so i give him the benefit of the doubt.
C'mon, you can't blame the guy...Unfortunately he'll have to suffer the consequences...IMO, it shouldn't be too harsh, given the circumstances, however, it shouldn't be a slap on the wrist either to set an example...
