We need to get this guy in a Rockets uniform he would be the perfect PG for this team. I say trade anyone of our guards and the #1 pick for this guy this summer. Do you guys think he can be had?
he's a good player, the only thing i suspect is he's never seen starters minutes so we never know. he might just be a good bench guy at best. I also wouldn't trade our first round draft pick away. this draft is deep and someone could just fall in our laps. hopefully CD will have a good draft.
I would like to use most of the MLE or all to sign this guy. I think he stayed on the bench this season becaue Sonics would like to bring up Ridnur. After all , AD is a free agent after this season.
he has a PO and he is expected to use it because he wants/ thinks he can get a larger contract. JVG has been interested in him for the past 2 summers. it stands to reason that he will be interested in him again this summer. since PF might be taken care of in the draft, most of the MLE can be offered to AD.
In the market of this summer, I think it is not easy for him to get paid over MLE. He is a PG of 30 years old.
Just for the sake of argument, if CD lands AD (and he has tried tried tried all last off season and earlier in this season just past) then who goes, Sura? Or MJ? For that matter, if VS is a player do Sura or MJ have a ticket to ride?
he is good player with hustle and quickness and skill to attack the hoop. also few take bad shots and very unselfish! the only resaon he is on the bench: a free agent this summer and SOINC wants to like young guy. get him!
We all know that the Rox have been interested in AD for some time, but my question is AD personally interested in the Rox or just the team that makes him the right offer?
He wouldn't be a bad option at SG either. The only downside is his three shot may not be as good as we need. You're right though, he'd be a good fit.
Guys, Antonio Daniels was drafted by the Grizzlies (#3 I think) in 1997 or 1998. He was their starting point guard for a year or two before they gave up on him. He does not have a high BB IQ, the court vision or even the handles to run an offense full-time. This post is a knee-jerk reaction to the off-the-bench production many of us saw him provide last night against the Spurs, which is the team Antonio joined after the Spurs. Antonio Daniels is Mike James with a better vertical leap and more explosiveness off the dribble penetration. That's it. -P1st, S2nd
Look at his assist/turnover ratio and tell me he has low BB IQ. Great assist/TO ratio Good shooter Athletic and Long Doesn't need the ball to be effective Can bring the ball up against pressure very good defender What else do we want?
Jopatmc: Look at his minutes per game, and consider the fact that Ray Allen puts up assists, too. C'mon, buddy, Ridnour starts in front of him. If Daniels isn't good enough to start for his own team, why should he start for us? -P1st, S2nd
Ridnour's stat was terrible at the start of this season when compared with AD, even he is the starter. But Ridnour is in the plan of Sonics and AD is not.
I'd rather get Duhon over AD. c'mon guys, he's not a natural PG. it just happened that he takes care of the ball. What we need is a playmaker type of PG
For the natural PG on the level of Duhon, it is almost nothing. Tmac needs to handle the ball. If it is the natural PG on the level of Kidd, ok, he handles the ball on the court.
We'd get more out of T-Mac if he could move without the ball more often. A playmaking PG is needed for that to happen. Daniels could conceivably fill that role, but I don't really think we are that bad off with our Sura/James tandem at PG. We need to think about SF and PF right now, assuming that we resign Mutumbo to play the same role he did this season. Don't forget that Daniels was not even good enough to start in front of Avery Johnson in San Antonio. Now AD backs up Ridnour. What does that tell you? Coaches don't trust AD to run their offenses full-time. He is a scorer off the bench. We don't need too many points out of out PG with T-Mac and Yao. With out offseason needs, PG should be left to mid-season trades if we think a move is needed.
AD would be on the top of our target list if not for the trades before the deadline. I'd still like him, the 2 inches over James and Wesley and quickness over Barry allows him to cover some players we otherwise would have to resort to use Tmac on. He also takes care of the ball and is adequate offensively in the half court and outstanding in the open court. If we get our PF via draft or trade, yeah I like him for a MLE, but at the most 4 years. Rigth now we need to save the MLE for our PF spot 1st before acting on AD or any other non4. AD is not so much of an upgrade over James/Barry/Wesley/Sura relative to the potential MLE FA PFs over Padget/Bowen/Spoon. Yes on part 1, no on part 2. The job of the Rocket PG on offense is to bring the ball up, hand it over to Tmac and Yao in good position, and find spots where they can do damage. When you have Tmac and Yao you don't need a playmaking 1. Good handle, good shooter and hopefully good defense, yes, yes, yes. I actually don't think he does have a high BB IQ in the sense of floor vision and brilliant passing, it is why he struggled with expectations as a lead PG. He he has learned how to play within himself however and make the steady play. I think this is more important for us anyway.
Ridour is in the starting linup for the near future. a lot of soinc fans criticise the team not letting AD start . you can check soinc coach's words! AD can and willing to pass if you watch KINGS and SA he is better player than MJ/sura and more consistent so many teams interested in him, like LAKERS
