So, like what AntiVirus do you all use, and or recommend.

I just got done with Norton 2004, and it was nice and all, but it was too bloated, and that damn password manager pissed me off. ugh...

I heard avg and something like karagzwyky is good, but whats yalls opinons, and what do you guys use.

I like Kaspersky a LOT, but it is sort of resource-intensive, so it might not be your best bet. Panda Anti-Virus is a very friendly, very good AV program. If you don't care about real-time scanning, ClamWin is Open Source/free, and it's good.

What differentiates Kaspersky from Macafee or Norton?

Kaspersky is typically known as being arguably the best at detecting hard to find, or new viruses. Norton and McAfee, are good, but not QUITE as good as Kaspersky, in terms of virus protection itself. However, Norton rules because of its administrative features. I'm not much on McAfee, but both are good too. But since you wanted to move away from Norton, I figured these might be good alternatives.

AVG is decent. If my data was of real importance to me, I'd use something else, I think.

I've been using AntiVir for the past 6 months or so and love it. The best part about it is it's free. They also have a corporate edition that they charge for, but the personal one is free. They're constantly coming out with updated definitions/engines for download and from what I've found so far it's good about detecting things.

There's not really any reason to run more than one AV program at once. The system resources that's going to take up would be huge, and they would probably fight with eachother. Just pick one, and make sure it gets updated daily.

Ok, i tried Clamwin, avast, and avg

I must say, Avast is far and away the best, with avg coming in a close second... Avast, to me seems better than Norton, and AVG has a nice quick scan.

CLAMWIN SUCKS, TOOK ME 13 HOURS TO SCAN MY COMPUTER

the others did it in less than 1

Kaperski might not be bad I suppose, but I would never use it, as I'm a computer tech and I often find that a person's computer problems (freezing, randomly shutting down, etc.) center around Kapersky.

Same thing with Norton to an extent, though not nearly as bad. The way Norton is built though is pretty resource-intensive, and there are A LOT of ways it could stop working. In that way I find it unreliable.

I used to think McAfee didn't do enough (when it was 7.1), but ever since it went 8.0 I've loved it... not necessarily because it has the most features, but because it detects a lot of stuff, and it pretty much never screws with your computer or gets screwed up itself.

I used to have Norton on all my machines but recently all i put on my machines after a reload is AVG free edition. It does everything i need it to without a bunch of useless junk that ties down my resources and memory.

Have you tried the newer versions of Kaspersky? The lastest one (5, i think) is pretty good. It is pretty resource intensive, but I've *never* had it freeze or randomly shut down a computer before.
