Freon for car, how much should it cost and where should I go?

I have recently noticed my cars AC doesn't cool as good as it used too. I've had my car for 4 years so I figure it's time to get some new freon put in. How much should it cost and where should I go to get it. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Antifreeze has absolutely nothing to do with the cold air from your car's air conditioning.

If your AC isn't blowing cold any more, you probably need to have a mechanic recharge the AC coolant (it used to be something called freon). You could buy the equipment and do this yourself, but since you confuse freon with antifreeze, I think you better hire someone else to do it.

Antifreeze prevents the water in your radiator from freezing when it gets cold outside (the water in your raidator keeps your engine cool).

From what you are saying it sounds like your High Speed Muffler Bearings (MSMBs) are going out. These regulate the tempature of your exhaust and will cause your AC to cut out if the sense too much heat.

If you a/c is not blowing cold, it could be one of one hundred different problems with the system (and I agree with droxford, if you don't know the difference between freon and antifreeze, then let an expert handle this).

Just recharging the system (if thats what it needs) will not fix the problem of why the system lost a charge in the first place.

Have a reputable mechanic find out what the problem is and go from there.
