People died and I haven't anything in years. No progress, no mention in speaches, nada. What the hell happened and where did it come from?

Was it domestic, was it jihadists, or was it a lunatic?

Apparently, it wasn't scary enough to bring in advertising revenue.

Well, they either found their man or harassed the wrong guy, Dr. Stephen Hatfill, but could never get enough to prove a case. Then Hatfield sued the government and they backed off of him.

By that time they were out of evidence to pursue so the case is essentially open but not really going anywhere. They are still working on sequencing the genome of one of the Anthrax cultures, and hope that will enable them to match with a source, but that's not a sure thing.

In light of the obstacles facing investigators, some relatives of the victims are wondering if the anthrax case will ever be solved. "It's been out there too long. I don't think they're going to find out" who did it, said Thomas L. Morris III of Suitland, whose father, D.C. postal worker Thomas Morris Jr., died of inhalation anthrax in October 2001.

I've got to think that there is some reason why the government does not really want to solve this case.

One thing for sure is that while the Bush gang used every opportunity to try to spread as much fear as possible about 9/11 and bogus fear of wmd and Sadam's supposed drones and poisonous gases etc, they have completely downplayed the anthrax case.

Perahps it is as simple as they did not need it to sell the Iraq War. Their other fear mongering was sufficient.

Other conjecture. It was weaponized anthrax developed by the government in violation of a treaty so they hushed it up.

Alternatively the government is pretty ineffective and the Homeland Security Department is a cruel joke.

Yeah, it's unlikely Muslim radicals have a hold of the strain that was used. Weaponized anthrax needs to originate from a gov't source....

I'm not alluding to cover-up, but the gov't isn't exactly opening doors to anyone. Without access and no victim, the media is running blind. Investigative reporting...what's that?

IMO, the guy the government was "harassing" was behind it. The minute they fingered him it stopped. Coincidence? I think not. :p

Seriously, I believe the Feds nabbed the right guy but maybe blew the case and know they can't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt before a jury.
