Hey I figured that if Jarrett Jack & Channing Frye should get a thread when they sign...so should Anthony Parker. NBA.com Notebook: Cavs finally make mark in free agency By NBA.com staff reports Posted Jul 9 2009 12:33PM Please welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers to Free Agency 2009. Danny Ferry finally reached agreements with a pair of players on Wednesday, bringing back Anderson Varejao with a six-year contract worth $50 million, and bringing in Anthony Parker, as reported by The Cleveland Plain-Dealer. While the Cavs swung and missed with Ron Artest and Trevor Ariza, they're still -- on paper -- a better team than the one that won 66 games last season. They acquired Shaquille O'Neal for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, neither of whom made much of an impact last season or will be playing much next season in Phoenix. And now, they've added Parker. One of Cleveland's problems this past season (especially in the conference finals) was 6-foot-3 guard Delonte West tried to guard bigger players. But Parker, at 6-foot-6, can play the two or the three and defend any wing the Cavs may face. He's a clear defensive upgrade from Wally Szczerbiak. Coach Brown will count on Parker's experience and intelligence, things the Cavs could have used against the Magic this past May, as well as his defense. Parker isn't Artest, Ariza or Rasheed Wallace. But don't forget that even without he and Shaq, the Cavs had the best team in the regular season and fell just short of The Finals. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/07/09/freeagency.update/
