Lately we have been looking to Cleveland for our next trade partner. Mainly our discussions have been about Verajao, but where our focus should be is on the play of Jamison and our unique opportunity with Yao's contract. Not sure how he is on defense, but he can't be as bad as Miller, right? Jamison in the past 5 games:

min fg 3p ft st blk to pf rb ast pts
    35.8 45-88 8-25 19-26 0.2 0.6 1.8 3.4 6.2 1.2 23.4

With Yao, Jeffries and Hill, we could get Jamison, Verajao and Gibson. Giving Cleveland what they want, while getting exactly what we need. Yet, still leaves us with assets up the assets. Now you move Scola and Patterson/Hayes to the bench.
Lowry/Brooks/Gibson(cut Ish or send to Dleague)
    Martin/Lee/Williams/Brooks
    Williams/Battier/Bud
    Jamison/Scola/Hayes
    Verajao/Patterson/Miller
    What do you all think?

I mentioned in another thread that I thought Yao and Hill for Varejao and Jamison would be a good deal for us if nothing else materialized. Jamison would be another big expiring contract next season that we could move for more talent. That seems to be the way Morey likes to roll.

Jamison would have been nice if yao was healthy. He would be that stretch four we've wanted for time. With no Yao, I don't seem him taking minutes from Scola. As far as Varejo, I think we could do better. I feel an uncordinated sub 7 foot defensive big men with little offensive game could be had much cheaper through the draft. I don't know, I think they both are overpriced band-aids used to squeek into the playoffs. Hell, if Jameson would have stepped up just a little bit in last years playoffs, Lebron might still be in Cleveland.

I think getting them both without giving up too much would be the positive here. It also makes our bench better in the procss by adding Scola. BTW, did you see how he destroyed Dallas last night? He and Verajao would put us back in the discussion as a elite team, IMO.

Not to burst anyone's bubble but Cleveland in their stupidest day would never do that deal. Varejao is their best asset and Jamison is their second best asset, Gibson is one of their younger projects. And in one trade swoop you expect the Cavs to give them all up for almost nothing. Okay for Hill, who is more than nothing, but he may never be more than a role player.

Yes Hill is young but the deal you put on the table is crap. I understand as Rockets we over value or players and we think all GM.s are stupid. But no GM wants to be that stupid. He will quickly lose his job for such a deal.

Yes their deals happen every year that our one-sided. Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler for cap space. But you must understand that you have to first find team that our desperate to save money. The Cavs aren't that team. They were ready to spend more money to keep Lebron. They did spend more to do it.

Now thoose days are gone but they are not desperate to shed salary. They want real assets back for their assets. I would even say they are a bit predatory. And not the predators that your trade would indeed need. If we are to get any trade deal steals you can almost bet it won't happen until we get much closer to the deadline. And that is still a longshot at best. Trade exceptions and expiring contracts are all over the league this year. Even desperate teams to shed salary will have more options than NY did last year.

We still have other assets to make it work.

I don't see why Cleveland would do that trade but sure why not, if we take on Jamison it would be mostly just to match salaries. He disappointed last season because he was supposed to make a difference for Cleveland and ended up disappearing in the playoffs.

FYI... no way they give up Varejao unless someone like Martin/Scola/ or multiple first round picks are involved.

Antawn is good, but he's old; aren't we trying to go in the opposite direction?

I dunno why we wanna move Scola to the bench. He's been playing very well as of late. I do like the idea of acquiring Varejao but instead of Gibson I wouldn't mind getting Jamario Moon. I doubt they'd be willing to give up Hickson. I would try to get Varejao, Moon, and I guess Jamison but I would push for Hickson instead.

Not too old to put 35pts and 10 rebounds against Dallas. Not too old to still be averaging 17pts a game.

How about Yao and JJ for Varejao?

In that case add Scola instead of Jeffries. Getting back Jamison and Verajao would outweigh the loss of Scola.

His scoring is not the issue, more of what we need and what direction the team is headed.

True. The real need is for another defensive big. That would be Verajao. As far as Jamison goes, he would be worth trading Yao for. I'm just saying, we would have a good chance of getting Verajao if we were to take on Jamison's contract as well, but he would also be a plus for the team.

I'm not questioning his skill as a basketball player, I'm just saying that his age isn't something we're looking for in a player
