Houston trades: Steve Francis $3,473,520 to Cleveland Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Cleveland Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Cleveland TOTAL: $14,521,520 Cleveland trades: Andre Miller $1,934,520 to Houston Cleveland trades: Chris Mihm $2,067,960 to Houston Cleveland trades: Zydrunas Illgauskas $11,250,000 to Houston TOTAL: $15,252,480 TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Cleveland being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Cleveland had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Cleveland would also receive a trade exception of $730,960 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade. Be aware that this exception will be extinguished if the team which possesses it falls below the cap by the combined amount of the exceptions it currently possesses -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plenty of benefits in the deal. First off the rockets get a true point guard in miller and front court help in Mihm. Cleveland get a budding superstar in francis. Then the rockets exchange kelvin cato, who - for all his bad qualities - has actually played decent this year for Zydrunas Illgauskas, a player seemingly always hurt. The benefit for the caves is cato can at least give you some minutes. The rockets benefit because Illgauskas's contract ends one year earlier. So we basically take on Illgauskas to get rid of an albatross one year earlier. Walt makes the trade work, but shouldn't be a deal breaker since his salary ends this year. Good or Bad deal?
you guys are nutz...have you looked at cleveland's record..it is as bad as ours with these players and a avg. supporting cast (wesley person, lamond murray)...The big fellow in CLeveland's contract almost makes Cato's look like a bargain.
Awe, Jeff, I'm sorry man. I have an opinion and so do you. I just try to stick to my guns. Really though, cato and walt have nearly zero trade value, so I am not sure why you think this trade is so crazy. Considering the fact that cato and williams won't help us in the future, exchanging his contract for Illgauskas, which ends one year earlier doesn't seem such a bad trade off. And if you feel francis is head and shoulders above miller and mihm, then I'm not sure what to say. I don't.
So why would Cleveland accept two players who have "nearly zero trade value" in a trade involving their starting point guard, and starting/backup centers? It sounds like you are proposing that Cleveland accept Francis for 3 of their top 6 players.
Not a bad trade, but it wouldn't happen. Rudy would not let Stevie be traded unless he wanted to be traded or unless it was too good of a deal to pass up on(like for Shaq or KG). It's definitely not a slam dunk deal - I don't have any faith in Ilgauskas health and I'm not high on Mihm either. Overall the Rockets would win the deal - but the small amount they win by is not worth breaking up the chemistry this team has. I still believe, that when this team is all healthy, it will be tough to beat.
What are you talking about? Could be the worst trade ever. While were at it, lets trade Mobley for adam keefe.
The Cavs would NEVER do this trade. Yes, I know Ilagauskas is always hurt but when he plays he is scary. Have you seen what he has done this season? He´s avereging almost 1 ppm (point per minute!!!). And besides that miller is in my opinion as good as Francis (not at the same things though), and all the teams in the league would rather have Mihm than the Wizard. Hmm.. and Cato, I don´t think anyone wants him.
Come on people. If big Z stays healthy, Cleveland's trio is MUCH better. If Z gets hurt, then Mihm and Miller is a fair offer for Cato, Steve, and Walt.
I would absolutely do that deal, but I don't see Cleveland going for it. Francis is better then Miller, but not by much. Francis is kind of like Marbury, and Miller is like Jason Kidd. I would rather have a Jason Kidd type point guard leading my team then a Marbury type. Plus Mihm and Illgauskas would be a major upgrade at center.
Here, try this one. Focus on the meat, not the potatoes. Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington Houston trades: Moochie Norris $3,600,000 to Washington Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Charlotte TOTAL: $14,648,000 Charlotte trades: Robert Traylor $2,793,505 to Houston Charlotte trades: Bryce Drew $1,300,000 to Houston Charlotte trades: Matt Bullard $1,300,000 to Houston TOTAL: $5,393,505 Washington trades: Etan Thomas $1,493,046 to Houston Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Houston (BYC Value $3,310,031) Washington trades: Bobby Simmons $332,817 to Houston Washington trades: Hubert Davis $2,368,421 to Houston TOTAL: $8,607,659 TRADE ACCEPTED
I absolutely would not do this trade. Lets look at what this team has to look forward to with more experience, improvement hopefully in RT coaching, and some healed players: PG-Francis SG-Mobley SF-Torres PF-Griffin C-Taylor And if the team sucks this year, add in Ming?? The point I hope to make is, start thinking about breaking this team apart when its fully healed and not winning, vs the whole lineup on I/R and losing. Also lets give RT some time to learn to operate a offense that can rip apart a zone......... which is also another issue.
I don't know how far fetched this is, but I was tryin to work the White for Walt trade. So how about this? Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to Washington TOTAL: $6,280,040 Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Houston (BYC Value $3,310,031) Washington trades: Hubert Davis $2,368,421 to Houston TOTAL: $6,781,796 TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Washington being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Washington had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Jahidi hasn't been getting much time eventhough he's played as the starting center, and Brendan Haywood has shown how well he's acclimated to the NBA, they may be willing to ship him off. The question mark would be Hubert Davis. He's not played exteremely well but has lit it up for the Wizards at times. I don't know how eager they'd be to let him go. As for what the Wizards would get, they get a solid experianced backup for MJ at the SF, something they are lacking at the time. Plus a little bit of a project in Collier, who would be sort of the big man in replacement of Jahidi. Laettner just broke his fibula I believe and will be out for a month, so I think the Wizards may be more interested in making a trade for someone to help absorb those minutes.
How about this modification? I especially like the trade exception. Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington Houston trades: Moochie Norris $3,600,000 to Washington Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Charlotte TOTAL: $14,648,000 Charlotte trades: Robert Traylor $2,793,505 to L.A. Clippers Charlotte trades: Bryce Drew $1,300,000 to L.A. Clippers Charlotte trades: Matt Bullard $1,300,000 to Houston TOTAL: $5,393,505 Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Houston (BYC Value $3,310,031) Washington trades: Etan Thomas $1,493,046 to Houston Washington trades: Bobby Simmons $332,817 to L.A. Clippers Washington trades: Hubert Davis $2,368,421 to Houston TOTAL: $8,607,659 L.A. Clippers trades: Rico Hill $0 to Washington TOTAL: $0 TRADE ACCEPTED Houston would also receive a trade exception of $5,073,158 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade.
Sorry bout the second post but here's another one I think may be more realistic. Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington Houston trades: Dan Langhi $465,850 to Washington TOTAL: $5,465,850 Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Houston (BYC Value $3,310,031) Washington trades: Courtney Alexander $1,418,355 to Houston TOTAL: $5,831,730 TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Washington being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Washington had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have been assigned Trade ID number 430388 Washington gets its experianced SF to backup Jordan, gets rid of one of its multitude of SG's and gets a player in Langhi that has potential and could help them compensate for Laettner getting injured for a little bit. We get White, who can bolster our frontcort, and pull down rebounds. Plus a backup to Mobley at the SG while Torres is allowed to play the 3, and very well could start over Rice.
