The Longhorns have not had control of their football players in a LONG time. It's become commonplace for news like this to be in the papers. This one's gonna sting (assuming Mack does anything about it), since UT-Austin is weak at DT http://www.statesman.com/blogs/cont...008/08/31/texas_player_lamarr_houston_ar.html Texas player Lamarr Houston arrested on drunken driving charge By Tony Plohetski and Isadora Vail | Sunday, August 31, 2008, 02:29 PM University of Texas starting defensive tackle Lamarr Houston was arrested and charged with drunken driving early today after a traffic accident, police said. He was released late Sunday morning. Houston was the driver of a two-car accident that happened at 11th Street and Interstate 35, said Austin police Lt. Max Johnson, at about 3:15 a.m. No one was injured in the accident, and it was still unknown if anyone else was in the car with Houston. No one was injured in the accident, which involved one car, he said. Details, including the arrest affidavit, have not been released by the Austin Police Department. Houston was taken to the Travis County Jail, charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor that is punishable to up to 180 days in jail. He was released on a $3,000 personal bond.
You posted this at 4:07 pm?!?! Pre-sabatical bigtexxx would have posted this before noon. You're slipping oldman.
Your statement about Mack alone proves that you are still a tool that tries to fan flames rather than point out facts. Let's look at a few.... FACT- Henry Melton and Sergio Kindle were both given 3 game suspensions last year for DWI. Would that be considered "doing nothing" in your book? FACT- Mack Brown instituted Ken Rucker in a position this past year that was meant to address team leadership, and ensure the safety and appropriate decision making processes by the players during the season and off-season. This position has now been adopted by many other programs seeking ways to make sure their players stay out of trouble. FACT- related to my last point, this is the lone incident to occur since Rucker took on the stated position. I'm not saying I condone the incident at all. But to insinuate that Mack wouldn't do anything about is flat-out lame. I seem to recall you stating a while back that you'd be "reporting" on incidents that happen anywhere, not just Texas. Where was your "sleuthing" over all the Georgia incidents? Where were your in-depth investigations over the Jimmy John situation at Alabama, or the repeated incidents at Iowa under Kirk Ferentz? Give me a break, dude. You're a tool. Go back to your Trader_Bigot fondling and give this BBS a break. Your shtick is old, repetitive, and annoying. Yes, if I don't like it, I could go somewhere else. But I shouldn't have to leave just because your stupid ass seems to have purchased a UT slander kit with your allowance money....
Wow, I guess the truth hurts. Quite a defensive response from you. A 3 game suspension for the soft part of the schedule isn't exactly a big price to pay. FACT: We are exactly 1 day after the season opener and UT-Austin has alreday had a player arrested. Sounds like sweeping actions have truly taken place. lol
I've been checking the BBS since I found out about this at 9:30 this morning waiting for you to post. I like how you refused to respond to the last part of junglerules post, why haven't you stuck to your word and reported on all the other college football programs that have players with legal problems? Rucker was appointed at the end of last season, and we were perfectly clean through the entire offseason. That this is the first offense under his watch is a HUGE improvement over our last couple of years.
Hmm I don't post on these boards too often, but something tells me bigtexxx isn't a Longhorn fan lol.
I'm not a fan of athletic programs that don't give two sheets about their players upholding the law. Sorry.
i know you probably would not have fun last night. but i went to a party in austin after going downtown. there were about 10 girls swimming topless. some of which go to that horrible school UT in that horribly liberal town austin. then again i have been to parties like that in college station, lubbock, and san marcos. regardless i had fun. GO UT
again , I would say that a three game suspension is warranted. after all, the crime is a class B misdemeanor.
Again, why don't you start a thread every time a player from a division I football team get arrested, as you said you would?
I just keep coming across the UT arrests in the local papers. They typically don't report the out of state schools. by the way - the "others schools are doing it, too" argument is pretty weak
I never made that argument. I'm just asking you to keep your word or just admit that you're nothing but a UT-hating tool.
