Does anyone think that Detroit would be willing to trade Carlos Delfino and Carlos Arroyo for our pick and an expiring contract? It seems that Delfino was not happy in Detroit and Arroyo hasn't worked out as well as they like.
u know what i actually think this trade would work, i think they would go for wesley, they need a shooter off the bench
Delfino would be a very good bargain. And he had a public feud with Larry Brown. But Brown is leaving, otherwise he would definitely be shipped out. Arroyo is cheap too. So is McDyess. But the question is who on this team would the Pistons want, besides the two untouchables.
I feel like, after watching the ECF against Miami, Arroyo is overrated. Overpaid? Not at all but after he got put in Sloan's doghouse and then got traded to the Pistons, he just doesn't look...."right". I am sure that Arroyo would be logging more minutes than what he's getting if he could play. Larry Brown would no doubt insert him into the rotation. But he's getting like Darko minutes..
Agree 100%. He plays with nothing to lose in the Olympics with little structure. Watching these games, he's nothing special. No outside shot, not fast, not too smart. All he does is pick and pop to Antonio for the outside shot. Plus he reminds me of J Kidd's son with that huge head.
I agree that Arroyo isn't spectacular, but when you PG help, he's hard to pass up at his current salary. Delfino will be very good at the 2 for us. Now, what does Detroit want? Dumars is a smart guy and he won't give them away. But I suspect if they don't win the championship, then he's gonna want to tweek the roster. I suspect Antonio Daniels/Mike James will be high on his list as serviceable backup PG's. David Wesley as a 2 off the bench. Caproom to go after possible trades and draft picks as throw-ins for possible trades. They have a championship team now and it's just a matter of minor adjustments. We obviously need to get deeper and younger. Imagine if T-Mac was injured for an extended time this season? We need to get him some rest to make him more durable.
Has there been any news on Dumar's contract? I could have sworn the ESPN people had said that his contract was also up and there had not been any talks as of yet... This isn't a bad trade for us. Delfino can be a pretty good player, and he'll get time backin up the 2. Arroyo and Mike James are a nice foil to each other and should provide sparks, one or the other. Not a bad deal, and good idea, but I don't think the Pistons would bite...not yet, anyway.
I wouldn't want to make that move. Both of these guys would be backups and we already have 4 backups to choose from that work well in our system. I just don't think they are worth trading for unless we get them both for our second round pick (which I don't think we have). Good idea though. I think it would work, but not benefit us very much.
