putting aside rudy t's latest brain fart (picking a jr. austin croshere, when we're trying to get austin croshere), there was another move i thought was immeasurably stupid. marcus fizer to the bulls.

i mean, you're going to play marcus fizer, who is a true power forward, at the 3 spot? hmmm, is there any way the rockets could trade cato and whatever for fizer and whatever (for cap purposes)?

hey, chicago still needs a center, cuz elton brand is far from a true 5. and while, yes, tim floyd is high on fizer as an ex-iowa product, cato is also an ex-iowa product.

true, we'd be without a center this year, but next year's draft should be able to fill that hole. there are a few quality centers coming out.

    whaddya think?

Chicago's move of drafting Fizer seemed pretty wacky. Especially considering that they drafted Mihm and then traded him. If they don't make some type of trade, they are idiots. Fizer is not a 3!

I agree, the Bulls made a blunder of a draft. Jerry Krause really butchered this one. He picked a very solid center at 7th overall in a center ravaged league then moved him for Crawford who has a long ways to go in developing NBA caliber PG skills. I understand that scouts and teams are amazed by Crawford's size, explosiveness and athleticism, but there is a lot more than that to being an NBA caliber PG (just ask Antonio Daniels). Crawford still has a ways to go before he can run a team.

Also, there is no way Marcus Fizer is going to make an NBA caliber SF. He is agile for a 4 man but nowhere near what is required for a 3. I think a deal could be in the works somewhere.

Croshere aint gonna come here if he is not assured a starting spot. And it will take more than just Cato to get Fizer anyway.

Before it's over, I believe Chicago will be viewed as having a great draft. Fizer will be traded.

They will possibly still get Miles from the Clippers, sending them Fizer. Miles makes no sense with Odom already there.

They will also probably get Oneal and Barkley from Portland for Crawford.

So they will probably end up with:

Miles, Oneal, Barkley, Al-Amin, Guyton, Voshkul, and the trading won't be over. A couple of those guards will probably be traded at some point.

Who knows who will get what in Free Agency, but I would bet they get Jones, Thomas and D.Anderson.

    That would give them:

    Oneal/Bagaric/Voshkul
    Brand/T.Thomas/Ruffin
    Artest/Miles/Hawkins
    Jones/D.Anderson/Benjamin
    Maloney/Barkley/El-Amin

Now if they kept the guys they have, they would have a better team this next year, but without Miles future star potential:

    Bagaric/Simpkins/Voshkul
    Brand/T.Thomas/Ruffin
    Fizer/Artest/Hawkins
    Jones/D.Anderson/Benjamin
    Crawford/Barkley/El-Amin

    exactly.

i believe that the Rox are not thru with the offseason. the moves don't quite make sense yet. while, yes, good shooting big men do make sense for this team - what with francis and mobley being the driving catalysts for the offense - we still need a low post offense to keep balance.

chicage, the word is, was infuriated and thrown for a loop with miles being picked by LAC. they we left having to pick the best available player and a lot of spite. after they realize the obvious - that fizer is not an nba 3, but a true karl malone clone (minus the razor bows) - they'll be in the mood to move him.

the rox and bulls, IMO, are in the same boat, however, they may be paddling in opposite directions. i could see the cato/fizer trade working out for both teams. chicago needs a shot blocking center who won't demand the ball much. houston needs an offensive post weapon at the 4 who can also rebound at hit the 15-17 footer. could we make something happen?

fizer would be an excellent fit. in fact, i'm with dadakota in his belief that fizer may end up being the best player in the draft - given the opportunity to flourish. he won't get that opportunity as long as he's paired with brand - an undersized pf, much less center. he could get that opportunity with us.

so what would that leave us with?

    pg - francis/mooch
    sg - mobley/anderson
    sf - anderson/mobley/rogers
    pf - fizer/croshere (maybe)
    c - dream/collier/pig

some players may shift trying to acquire fizer and croshere, but the nucleus would be very close to this. toss in a good center out of next years draft (where we could potentially have 3-4 first round picks!) we also should have some cap room next year to add a stabilizing free agent (less quality and less demanding than webber).

suddently rudy t could be a genius again...

aaahhh. i guess we should be patient. and go after fizer/croshere.

brain fart - stupid, illogical decision

i don't agree with the collier pick, insofar that if what you wanted was a good shooting big man, there are other ways to go about it.

for one, if he truly believes there is a good shot at signing croshere this offseason, trade the picks altogether and save some cap room. we could still go after fizer with cato, and we could still go after croshere. why pick up a larger bullard?

like i said before, good shooting big men can be a good thing in our offense. however, we need to also have a post threat. we already have bullard at pawn shop price.
