Improvement is all I see, along with some dumb mistakes. He's no Starter though. If I didn't expect anything from him I would have said cut him, he sucks, he doesn't deserve to be a pro. Did I say that? No. I said I didn't know if he fit well with our team, that is all.

Mulder - he had ZERO turnovers in 43 minutes, what specifically are the dumb mistakes you're referring to?

It is time to face the Music. Drew can play and play DARN well. He is not flashy, but he is SO smart with the ball.

Did anyone see his one Handed Tip Rebound pass out to Mobley for a 3....SWEEEEEEET !!!

Drew is playing well, and it is not a coincidence that the Rockets are winning games with a solid team player running the point.

That was really sweet, but unfortunately Mobley missed the 3 - so he didn't get the assist.

Drew did decently on offense, 7-16, not good but ok, zero TO is terrific. Other than that, 2 rebounds and only 5 assists in 38 minutes are not so good though.

I don't want to hear another word from the Drew bashers, after tonight you should zip your lips. The kid can flat out play. Once again he was everywhere. The first down on offense and the first back on D. He made zero mistakes. Drew is calm and collective and makes good decisions with the ball. He also can penetrate and make things happen, like that no look pass to Rodgers for the jam. He knocked down just about every crucial shot and just looked very confident out there. I don't want to hear negative comments about his play because he hasnt done anything negative. He has hustled his #$#@ off and just played hard!!!

Not a triple double but getting the teammates more involved.

Alright Drew did a solid game this time, I will give him that after seeing he outplayed Mike Bibby, although I consider Bibby as a bust so far, that's nice for him to do that. However, two games are not enough, Shawn Bradley has two good games in a row sometimes.

Drew SUcks man.. How can you guys think he is good!!! TRADE HIS ASS!!!

    Just Kidding. [IMG]

He played a well game, His shots were going down and he played a nice game. Good job Drew. I hope he can keep this up coming off the bench. If he cant then I will forget about all this stuff.

Drew has to bring in points off the bench, at least like 9 or 10 points the most. To give Francis a breather and take pressure off of him.

C'mon FF...quit being so easy on the guy. Critique him for God's sake. [IMG]

Seriously, though, I paid a little more attention to Drew when I watched the game tonight, and the guy seems to have even better court vision that I thought. He really can get the ball to the open guy, and that tip pass that's mentioned here is one example. There was another quick pass, to Barkley as he was moving under the basket, that was really sweet.

It seems that someone around here used to say that Drew 'floated' too many passes, or passed to lazily, but I don't remember who. I'd definitely have to disagree with that now, after seeing him get some minutes.

    Dakota--

The real coincidence is that we changed the offense and are winning. I am happy for Drew but let's not lose track of reason here. Francis has shown he is a team player. Problem is that when he would create open shots for people, they would miss the open shot. But let's not for get that while everyone was bricking shots and making dumb mistakes, Francis and Barkley had to carry the load. Show the kid some appreciation. We aren't winning because Drew is a better team player or because Hakeem is injured. We are winning because we have changed our style of play. Every individual member of this team is playing better it isn't because of one guy. If Cuttino was still slumping we'd still be losing. Its a team effort. For once, everyone is clicking at the same time. Not just Francis and Barkley. Let's not forget that.

I'd have to say that Drew looks like the guy to come off the bench for the Rocks. With a second team off the bench, it's likely that there will be less guys able to create either their own shot, or draw a double team, on the floor, so the key to scoring is movement without the ball, and finding the open man quickly. If Drew can bring that to the table consistently, along with good outside shooting, and the odd penetration, he looks like a good backup PG. If only he was a bit older, so we could call him a veteran, then we wouldn't have to trade for a veteran backup PG! :)

    1. Rokkit, you're exactly right about Drew's "floating" passes. It's the other Rockets who toss the lazy floaters that get picked off. Drew generally fires bullets. This is not a matter of physical talent. It's a matter of discipline and effort, and Drew excels in both of those departments.

    2. If Drew hasn't yet established himself as the next John Stockton (and let's all admit we'd love to have the next John Stockton), can we at least agree that he's establishing himself as the Rockets' Howard Eisley?

    Good morning folks!

Another win by the Rocks! I Noticed Rogers had a good game (stat wise). Someone who watched the game, give me a low down on how everyone else looked.

    JeffB,

I agree with you totally about the Rockets change in style being the primary reason for the winning streak.

I do differ in your take on Steve Francis though. My point is that Drew is more of a pass first player and Steve is a shoot first player. Look at how the other Rockets have gotten more involved since Drew is playing PG...EX Shandon Anderson, Charles Barkley, etc..etc...

I know Francis is the next HUGE deal, but I would like him to play more of a PG role, and pick his spots for shooting. Oh, and less turnovers would be nice too... [IMG]
