I'm getting this second-hand, but details are sketchy. This happened in my hometown of Corpus Christi, well, that's where my parents live. An 8th grader missed the bus going to a track meet, so the coach wouldn't let him ride on the bus back to school. WEll, as he was crossing a busy street, he got hit by a car and was killed. The car put on it's brakes, and allegedly, if the car would have sped up, the kid would only have a broken leg. You physics majors prove or disprove that for me. Regardless, it's a sad story. Btw, it wasn't the coaches fault, just school rules or whatever. It's a silly rule. ------------------ "Hey Snoop Dog, I got my bi-yatch to make you some muffins."
One word comes to mind... lawsuit. ------------------ www.swirve.com...The reason Al Gore invented the internet.
I believe the force of impact would have hurled the kid through space, causing a few broken bones, while the brake would have clamped down on his leg, drawing him under the wheels. Brakes cause more damage in driving accidents than the impacts do. ------------------ I'm the most positive Rocket fan in the world.
zrb, that's what I heard also. I guess it also depends on how fast the car is going though. This is also related to why you should speed up when you see a deer. If you hit the brakes, it causes more car damage. ------------------ "Hey Snoop Dog, I got my bi-yatch to make you some muffins."
No, no, when you see a deer, you get your ol .30-06 out and serve meat to the kids... ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
Don't make this a gun thread Roxran, you can still feed the kids after you hit the deer w/ your car. Mmmmm... roadkill. ------------------ git it tag, git it!
This has not been a good couple weeks in the game of life in and out of sports. Damn when's it gonna stop?
When we ban the cars. ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
