As I mentioned I am about to take the trip to Nationals for my Youth Basketball Team. I am renting a 15 passanger van, and will be bringing about 8 kids and 4 adults on this trip. :(

    My questions:

[/B]Is the "rental insurance fee" going to cover every adult???[/B] I assume that a couple of them will not be able to sit still and want to drive to take a break from the kids. One coach told me he would be partying during the late hours :(

Also, If I pay this "rental insurance fee" does everyone that will be driving the rental need to be present at the actual time of rental??? That will be a pain in the neck!!! I know they will want to drive, but probably arent going to be able to come from cross town to attend the actual renting process.

I really need to make sure I'm covered here because this is the first time I will be the main person on the rental contract with other drivers operating the vehicle.

    Thanks for the input!

I've always had to pay an 'extra' fee when adding drivers to the rental contract.

Call 'em up and ask. They may know more about this than we do...

I rather not at this point. Being that Houston has very few places that rent 15 passenger vans, I want to keep my plan annonymous at this point. I want to "walk in" confident with my "plan" knowing that I am not going to get haggled into something else.

    Thanks for the input though.

Well, at Enterprise the insurance covers additional drivers AS LONG AS they are listed as such on the rental agreement. Other drivers didn't have to be present but we would usually put a disclaimer on the agreement like "Joe Blow with valid drivers license" or something like that just to cover our ass.

It's been a while since I've worked there and I'm sure every company is different, so take it for what it's worth.

BTW, drinking and driving will ALWAYS nullify any coverage you purchase if you're in an accident. That one trumps all. Read the fine print on the rental agreement.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.

If someone were to drink and drive. Would they come after him or me?

Lay down the law. Its your rental so you make the rules. If he doesnt like it then he doesn't drive and/or go.

This is a trip for the kids, not a guys weekend in Vegas.

plus, youd have to be a dumb ass to allow a person who has been drinking to drive a van full of kids

    no offense Gummi

He is talking about going to check out the nightlfie when the kids are asleep. I assume I will be invited, but someone has to watch the kids even though they are sleeping. Maybe we can take turns sitting with them? We will have at least 2 other adults that could stay with them.
