"She added that, after struggling with the first one, "the rest seemed to just fall out" and she had felt no pain."

I don't know what that stuff is, but I want some of it before my next dental appointment.

    Yeah you do.

Laughing gas does the trick on me. The doctor made it worse by telling the nurse that "it must be one of those inside jokes."

The last time I had to have dental work done the dentist gave me laughing gas and novocaine. He told me what he was going to have to do and reportedly I replied: "Do whatever you need, Doc." :D

    Uh... GHB isn't a hallucinogen.

    from erowid.org:

This is typical media hysteria, in the same way that about 10 unrelated drugs are commonly refered to as "The date rape drug".

Generally, the effect of consuming "enormous amounts of GHB' is a coma-like state including muscle twitching. This is like calling alcohol a hallucinogen, except with GHB one would enter this coma-like state before one were able to develop the same kind of toxic psychosis that characterises accute alcohol poisoning.

Clearly, they either took something else, or they used the GHB as a convienient excuse for their idiocy.

Sounds more like acid to me. Or PCP, on PCP the user sometimes loses sensation.

Designer drugs like Ecstacy and GHB were actually formulated to combine the "speed" effects of amphetamines with some of the effects of a hallucinogen. While many of these have fairly mild effects, they can vary. Always remember, with street drugs, you don't know what you're really getting.

Just another reason why it's stupid to mess with this stuff.

Good call. PCP is basically a horse tranquilizer, so that would make the most sense.

Cars and guns are even more dangerous when in the hands of people don't know how to use them properly. ;) Not that I really have a take on mind altering substances. ... Who let that damned fly in my lab again?

GHB was not the cause of this, people's stupidity was. I've seen people on this, and they surely don't do stupid **** like this.

The problem is NYKRule, that because the substances are illegal, you don't know what you are really getting. There is not FDA or someone to complain to in light of an overdose or a bad mix.

You could be buying Ajax for all you know.

I'm a decriminalisation person; plus, I've done lots of drugs. But I'm not ever taking that **** - at least, not until how it's sold is radically changed - because if you get the dose wrong, which is very easy to do, you can die like *that* (as my friend's little brother did last year - NZ's first GHB death). Even erowid.org recommends that you really know what you're doing before using it. I'm not really keen on the 'slow you down into a coma' drugs anyway. I don't like alcohol much either...

Their hallucinations don't sound much like the effects of GHB to me. However, I am reminded of that Bill Hicks bit about the guy on acid who thinks he can fly and jumps off a building. 'Good! One less idiot in the world!'
