This time it's Akbar mohamadi. he was part of the students soladirty front which was part of the 1999 students uprising.there are tens of thousends of political prisnores in the mullahs jails. yet the international community shows no scurtiny or no care for those innocent individuals. all they care about is the oil contracts. Why would the 'international community' focus on political prisoners in Iran any more so than, say, Cuba or Egypt or Saudi? I think the 'international community' has its hands full with a few millions dead in the Congo conflict, two deadly conflicts in the Middle East and Afghanistan, the North Korea standoff, the Pakistan-India nuclear arms race and Kashmir, and few other crisis of overriding importance.
Has it's "hands full?" Considering how dangerous Iran is to the international community, they should block out some time in their schedule! Keep D&D Civil.
Iran is not a threat. the mullah's are, please seperate iran and the peace loving iranian nation from there mullah's.
Forgive me, but how does the issue of 'political prisoners' impact the security of the 'international community'? And blazer_ben, Yes, I do condemn political prisoners anywhere in the world, be it the jailing of thousands of Egyptian political activists or Iranian journalists/student activists.
The Mullah's Poisoinous Ideology is a plague that has well and truly destroyed a generation of iranians.
Of course. The government of Iran is a threat to the international community. No problem! Actually, it's a big problem. In my opinion, they are the engine behind Hezbollah in Lebanon, a major player in the sectarian violence in Iraq, a threat to the Gulf States and their oil supplies for the developed nations, and a very real threat to develop atomic weapons... weapons that might be used to turn Israel into a parking lot, if the current president of Iran had his wish. Otherwise, they are as groovy as a troop of girl scouts! The Iranian people are under the thumb of the theocracy, and one of my fondest hopes would be to see an Eastern European kind of revolution in that country, one non-violent and leading to real democracy, instead of the sham Iran suffers under. I hope that clears up my views. Keep D&D Civil.
How the hell do we do that? I mean except for saying "gee, there are probably a lot of nice people in Iran who have nothing to do with what their country is doing."
Miss the other thread about young girl hanged? I've been debating starting a thread on Iran pouring weapons into Iraq to kill americans and Iraqis so forgive me if my sympathy seems blunted. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
As you may have noticed, I am a longtime critic of Bush's mad decision to invade and occupy Iraq, but I think one would have to be a fool, dear BBS members excluded, of course, not to recognize Iran's hand in the on-going sectarian violence in Iraq, and violence elsewhere. Keep D&D Civil.
You should say the mollah's are sending weapons into iraq. is'nt it ironic that not one Iranian has been caught or convicted of being a terrorist. the simple answer is, iranians are not terrorists. what the unelected goverment does, it should in noway refelect on the iranian people.
Why do you think Saddam pertended to posses WMD for so long?. simple reason was to scare off the mullah's in iran.
