Another option: no CWebb nor MoT

We don't need to limit ourselves to just Webber and MoT. There are many solid 4s (ie: Antonio Davis, Brian Grant, or Marcus Camby) out there besides Webber and MoT that better fit the Rockets. We don't need either MoT (we need defense and hustle) or CWebb (probably don't want to play in Houston). If we can't sign a free agent (Antonio Davis), how about a sign and trade deal to get a solid 4 from another team?
I can think of different scenarios that we can do this. We sign Webber or another high priced free agent, then trade him to another team to acquire BGrant/MCamby/Dale Davis. What do you think?

If we don't re-sign Taylor than the only other thing I would want to see us do is re-sign Dream and Shandon with the cap space. Griffen can play PF, Shandon gets his starting SF spot back if he can beat out Walt/Langhi. I'm not saying I am totally against signing Webber, I would still be excited if we did, but I am perfectly content without even trying to get him. And if we do sign Webber, we won't then just trade him for a center. He will only switch teams once this offseason.

All of those teams would want Steve Francis in return.

Layden's offer-Camby, Johnson, and Rice for Francis and cap fillers. I can see it already.

What am I thinking? A sign and trade normally involves the original team that would be Sacramento in this case. However, we can do a sign and trade with Mo Taylor if anyone wants a power forward that can score. [IMG]

Another option at PF for the Rockets is Jerome Williams. Remember, with Francis, Mobley and Griffin, the Rockets will have plenty of scoring. The Junk Yard Dog (at least the post-Elie JYD) can provide some FEROCIOUS rebounding prowess. I'd love to get him if for some reason neither Webber nor Taylor work out. Or, if we have to involve Kenny Thomas in another trade (to dump Cato's salary, etc.), I'd like to try to get JYD to back up Taylor. Like people have said of Griffin, JYD would perfectly complement Taylor as a defensive-minded, active rebounder to Taylor's offensive-minded shooter and post player. Just an idea.

Marc Jackson is appealing, but someone mentioned a PERFECT comparison that may prove ominous to his success: he may very well be the second coming of Ike Austin. Both players played a couple of years overseas, then played well their first years back in the league to prove that they belonged. When Ike got the big contract, he stopped showing up. I hope that's not the case with Jackson, but I wouldn't be surprised. At least with JYD, you know he's going to bring it every night, regardless if he's making $5 mil or $5.00.
