When I saw the title, I thought you were referring to US friendly governments that have been voted out over the past few years across Europe, Australia, etc. Today, we add Pakistan to that list also.
Bush is finishing VERY strong with regards to foreign relations. A stable Iraq, Castro stepping down, strong showing in Africa, taking out Al Qaeda leaders. Solid work across the board.
Ordinarily I'd say it's absurd to give Bush credit for Castro stepping down due to old age, but since he gets the blame for everything bad that happens(even a damn hurricane in New Orleans), I think he deserves props for this development.
He didn't get blame for a hurricane - he got blame for the federal response to the hurricane, led by the incompetent man that he put in charge of FEMA - and whom he congratulated on his competence during and after the initial FEMA response.
Are you people insane? Bush gets credit for Castro being old and sick? If that ain't the definition of grasping at straws, I don't know what is.
For starters, what the hell did he have to do with Castro resigning? I guess everybody that won a lottery during Bush's term as president should be thanking him too, right?
So the only point you can attack is the Castro resignation? 'nuff said Bush has put significant pressure on the guy, which likely ain't too good for his health
LOL! Wow that is reaching, Stretch Armstrong reaching. Like I said, that was for starters? How is Iraq more stable? Because coalition deaths are down? Because we haven't heard much about it since elections have taken center stage? It is still pretty unstable, in fact there were stories yesterday about Al-Qaeda members executing betrayers in Iraq, turning some cities in Iraq into virtual ghost towns and so on. Taking out some Al-Qaeda leaders, OK but have we gone after the top dog? Have we even discussed going after him any further? I know Bush visited Africa but I don't know how strong his showing is. I mean he ignored some of the continents most troubled spots but oh well.
Oh please. The guy is over 80 years old and has smoked cigars all his life. Do you really think the current administration has put more pressure on Castro than Eisenhower or Kennedy? How many assassination attempts did the CIA dream up in the 1950's and 1960's? By some accounts, over 600. Remember the exploding cigar and mafia hits and poisoned food? And you're trying to claim that pressure from this administration led to his resigning? What fantasy world are you living in? The guy is ancient and he turned over the government to his brother. And by the way, when all this plays out and the exiles in Miami realize they're not going back to what they had, there will be a backlash against the Republicans for leading them on over the decades.
