Being a McGrady fan, this hurts more than anything said in the forum. It's not a surprise, but it still hurts. I guess on the good side McGrady will soon be spreading his wealth to me. McGrady to show love for Obama on election day By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle Nov. 1, 2008, 7:55PM While the Rockets hope to make a statement with their game Tuesday against the reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics, Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will make a very different sort of statement of his own before the first shot is taken. McGrady and Boston star Kevin Garnett will wear special red, white and blue adidas shoes covered with stars and stripes to "emphasize the importance of this historic election," according to an adidas statement According to adidas, "The words were chosen by both KG & Tracy and reflect their political views. This is not about partisanship. Rather, this is vehicle to encourage people to get out and vote." McGrady, however, chose "Change is Needed" for his shoes and said he is happy that his message is so close to the Barack Obama campaign slogan, "Change We Need." Asked if his message was an endorsement, McGrady said, "Absolutely. "I'm Obama all day, every day," McGrady said. "I endorse him. I actually met him this summer, me and my wife. When he was down here, he wanted to meet and I went to his hotel to meet him. A very nice gentleman. I believe in what he believes in." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6090121.html
I'm wondering how his boss feels about this. Many companies like you to keep your political views out of the work place.
Jordan in the '90s on why didn't speak out politically: per Sam Smith via NY Times: Good on McGrady to speak(/squeak) his mind.
I know Les Alexander is a pretty liberal guy and gives alot of money to democratic candidates. Morey on the other hand has given money to Mitt Romney...
I don't get it. I thought Obama was bad for business, but the multimillionaire Les Alexander supports Obama. I am even more confused about Morey, since he is a wage slave. He would get hit from the increased taxes on over $250k from both payroll and income taxes. Surely, Morey, the numbers guy, knows how much it will cost him.
Daryl Morey also has intelligence and empiricism leanings. Which he has made very clear. What do you think Morey's reaction to Sarah Palin is? Besides, since when have the Republicans, who controlled Washington or the last 8 years, supported small government libertarian policies? As for Les Alexander. He is Jewish so there is a 75% statistical chance of him voting for Obama. It may be higher since a good portion of the remaining 25% will vote for McCain partly because Obama is black or allegedly Muslim. Les Alexander appears rather comfortable with black folks and Muslims.
I know you're joking but Battier was one of the first athletes to contribute money to Obama's campaign.
I know, that's particularly funny. Maybe he'll show up very, very early for warmups and urge some of the concessions staff to quit their jobs and rush to the polls.
They make enough money. 3 percent of $1 million is like a technical foul fine from David Stern. They spend more money on a night out partying with their friends. If they believe Obama would bring the necessary changes to this country then its a sacrifice they'll take.
I like TMac because he is a good athlete and a great basketball player. That said, the day I look to him for political advice is the day I ask Pacman Jones a question about molecular biology.
So have they actually stated their preference for Obama, or do you just think that's the case based on on what you wrote here?
So I can take this as a policy statement from GOP: basic molecular biology research equals garbage. That fits with the apparent view that science, data, and empirical observation of reality are all garbage. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT THERE VIEW, YOU KNOW, LIKE AS SHORING UP OUR FUTURE COMPETITIONESS IN THE WHOLE GLOBAL ECONOMY ASPECT.
