One night against the 76ers in March of 2005, Donyell Marshall repeatedly stepped up to the 3 point line and drilled 3 pointer after 3 pointer. He eventually finished 12 for 19 from downtown and something like 13 for 21 overall in 28 minutes of play on a team with such NBA notables as Vince Carter, Chris Bosh, Jalen Rose, and Rafer Alston.

    Question:

Can Novak garner enough minutes and shots in a single game this season to break that record?

(Wouldn't that be fun to watch?)

Yeah, Kobe does share the record I believe for most 3s in a game with Donyell, unless they've both been topped. I thought he was 12 for 18 though. Anyways, didn't want to mention him because he is in a different class. Wanted to keep it with DM so people can compare Novak to a shooter like that. If DM is capable of having that kind of game..........in limited minutes.....what could Novak do in 30 minutes with 20 shots? I think under the right circumstances Novak could obliterate that record. And can you imagine what TC would be like if that happened in in our building? Talk about electric.

If my memory serves me well the Rockets records are:-
OPEN: Robert Hory 10 three pointers in a single Game
ROOKIE: Cutino Mobley and Dickinson 8 three pointers in a single Game
NBA OPEN Record in a single game is now 12

Yes, he will go 30/30 from 3point land and shatter Kobe's 81.

    Calm down with Novak.

Does anyone think he'll break Wilt's record in the 1st couple weeks, or do you think more like a month or two, or the 2nd half. I'm going conservative -- the 2nd half.

If players like Larry Bird, Ray Allen, Peja, Reggie Miller can't break the record of 12 three pointers, what makes you think Steve Novak, a rookie, can break it?

The way he shoots the ball, it's very very very close... the bottomline is we want him to make a shot at the right time.. the winning moment..

if he is ever going to do it, this is the best team for him to succeed. yao and tmac will allways have to be double teamed, even if novak went 12/15. he will allways get open.

I know hes a rookie and all that but that has nothing to do with opponents doubling yao and tracy which every single team in the nba is gonnna do.......the kid is gonna get wide open looks on a nightly bases.....and trust me one of those nights he will get on a roll.......

kobe and donyell are not half the shooter this guy is..............double teams will cause him to break it eventually..its not that hard to get open with those two on the floor guys.....he will not have to work very hard for shots when he is on the floor.......remember he does not have to create his own offense here in houston just catch and shoot which i think he will be awesome at...almost scary actually..i take the over on this season with steve "layup" novak......

if he had to create his own offense i would say no....but catch and shoot?......who knows

you will all see...its gonna almost be against the law with this kid on the court with tracy and yao.......boook it
