I don't have a link for this, because I saw it in print. The magazine is 2007-2008 Pro Basketball and it claims to be the #1 fantasy magazine in the country. Almost all of its content is for fantasy basketball, but there is "Chrystal Ball" section, which they claim they are never wrong about.

They picked our beloved Rockets to finish second in the conference in the regular season and then to preceed to beat Denver, Phoenix, and San Antonio (in a seventh game, on the road). Finally they picked us in six over Cleveland.

And for the icing on the cake...they pick Yao Ming for MVP! The Rockets are definitely getting some national love this year. Let's hope they can back it up! Go Rockets!

I trust the fantasy league people for predictions more than the so called experts. They know what players consistently produce and the better guys can actually translate that into team wins. As for Yao winning MVP, I don't know if he will but he will definitely put out some of the best fantasy numbers of any one.

Noone in their right mind expects us to win the championship this year. We are just the safest of the "original" picks and every publication wants a little bit of shock value and bragging rights if things sway away from the norm (PHX/DAL/SA).

Yeah, looks like we're the alterna-pick this year. Everybody is sick of the Spurs and Dallas choked even worse than we did last season. People are ready for some new(er) blood in the West.

But win the title this year? LOL.

Man you guys are a lot of fun! Can't you just enjoy some positive props every now and then. Good grief. You complain when no one picks the Rockets and complain when someone does. The season may not work out that way at all, so try to enjoy a little hype for once. By the way, when you say no one in their right mind would pick the Rockets, what do you call John Hollinger? Make sure you check out that thread. Also, it is admirable for people to actually make predictions in advance instead of picking the same teams every year until someone else takes their spot.

Since you some of you think it is ridiculous to pick the Rockets to win a championship, I posted a new poll to see what others thought. I believe the Rockets could plausibly win it all. I am not saying that is the likely outcome, but I truly believe that some of you are overreacting when you talks as if it is ridiculous.

Hey, it's POSSIBLE. It just isn't likely enough to seriously consider, IMO.

Is "Chrystal Ball" spelled kinda wrong? Or is it suppose to be some kinda pun?
That ruins some of the credibility already, on top of the fact that they picked cleveland to go to the Finals.

it's nice to get recognition as a solid contender but it doesn't matter one bit. this is how I have always felt. who cares if we get ripped as losers or picked to be winners. the only thing that means anything is what we accomplish.

last time I checked san antonio was on their way to securing their spot as a dynasty if they make it 5 championships in 10 years. what have we done in the past 10 years outside of first round disappointments and trendy dark horse picks?

I probably spelled it wrong...maybe I'm supposed to drop the 'h.' Either way, it has nothing to do with the magazines credibility. Go to the store and check it out for yourself. It is a legitmate sport's magazine.

I wonder how many magazines had picked Mavs to win it all last year.

This year? Don't think so. I hope we make the second round. Maybe I'm being a downer but its been a long time since we've past the first. I need to see them play before I give them any props. As of right now, I think its just wishful thinking.
