How does a member post a one-vote-and-done 6-category poll on the BBS? I checkmarked the box and did everything I could think of to generate the poll but without success. I suggest a little "how to" in the poll section. Thanks.

I vote we don't explain how to start polls.

I wonder how many people would agree. Let's take a poll! :D

Come now, admins, it can't be that hard to provide a little help on this. Thanks.

You change the number of poll options.

Thanks, Da, I did that but somehow I failed to get to the next level -- creating the poll. I'm kinda clutzy with programs until I learn how to use them.

thumbs, I think what you were saying is that you want to create a poll in which it has 6 mutually exclusive options but you don't know how to do it, right?

Here's the CF.net FAQ on how to create a poll:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/faq.php?faq=vb_read_and_post#faq_vb_poll_explain

The thing you need to be aware is that once you've hit the "Submit New Thread" button, people are already able to see the thread including your opening post message and reply to it (nasty surprise, lol), while you are being taken to 2nd page to formulate your poll question and options. I haven't started a poll thread for a long time, but if I remember correctly, the "mutually exclusive poll option" is the default.

It's no big deal. The admins may be saving me from my own stupidity because now I can't even find the poll field. What can I say? -- I just turned 60 and my very average computer ability is diminishing by the day. :D Thanks for the help. ..... Ah, I found the button again.

Since this is already a how to thread, is there a way to search for old threads besides just going through page after page?

You need to be a contributing member to have search privileges. But there is a trick to search via google. Go to google and enter into the search box:

    site:bbs.clutchfans.net "Search Term"

That gives you some pretty good results if you use very specific terms.
