OK, I recently bought a 27" Panasonic Tau HDTV monitor so that I would have a good TV to play my XBOX 360 on. So, I hook the 360 up last night and overall it looks pretty good but all the text looks really blurry. I've set the component AV cable switch to the HDTV setting and I set the 360 setting to 1080p widescreen HDTV. Anyone with HDTV have any ideas as to why this is? Thanks, in advance, for any and all info.
I'm using HDTV for x-box. I think you need to make sure that your x-box is connected to an HDTV connection on the TV. Not the regular analog connection or whatever they call it. Most TV's Have several connections for additional add ons. Half of which are HDTV and half of which may be the old way. My text is crystal clear. No blurring. I just hooked it up.
yea, I did. The 360 came with HD hookups (component AV) and I hooked them up through that connection. The AV cables have a switch that you set to either Standard TV or HDTV, which I set to HDTV.
1080P may not be right, I don't know if any HDTV has 1080P but those high end ones. Try 1080i or 720P instead, those the format that most HDTVs on the market support.
Yeah, 1080p doesn't sound right to me either. In fact, I don't even think the 360 supports it. Maybe it is 1080i instead?
i think the 360 runs off of 720p, and i'm assuming your tv will just upconvert it to that format, but i dont know that it would affect how the text looks. on my hitachi 42" the text is blurry for me if i use strech modes... then again thats on ps2 not xbox 360.
Ooooops! It is 1080i Thanks for the help everyone. I'm starting to wonder if I got a bad cable with the system or (god forbid) the system itself isnt working properly. I got a busted system for when I got both the PS2 and XBOX on their launch days, so I am hoping for a "third time the charm" type of thing. Like I said, it just seems to be the text on the screen. Played NBA2K, and the actual gameplay looks beautiful but you just can't really read any stat overlays or rosters because of the text blurring. Same with Madden. Anyway, I'll just keep testing each compponent out and hopefully be able to pinpoint what is causing the problem. Thanks again for all the advice.
I know on LCD's and plasma's the screen comes from the factory jacked up. Usually the brightness and the contrast are way too high. This is usually done to make the display stand out at Best Buy or Circuit City. Usually when your brightness or contrast is too high, you get furry text... I think. Calibrate your set and find out if it improves anything.
Why didn't you just go for the big screen??? Why go for a measly 27"? And to top it off, on a widescreen at 27" is what you would see in a 21" regular screen.
