I think a guy that has escaped notice of alot of you guys here is Bobby Sura. He is a great guard/sf. He is liable to get a triple double on any given night. He plays great d, hustles for rebounds, great passing, and a good shot. He's everything that this team needs.

He'd be a good backup. We already have JJ, though. Also Pike, AG, Mobes and Francis.

Sura plays pretty tough, though. He'd do great with Sloan. JVG wouldn't do crap with him.

Sura is like a poor man's Brent Barry. He is a good passer and really pushes the basketball up the floor. I wouldn't mind looking at him with part of the MLE in the offseason as a backup plan if the Rockets couldn't get someone like a Brent Barry.

I just wanted to jump in and say ditto. Sura has gotten a chance again to show that he can still ball. He's no longer a starter on a good team, but would be strong off the bench.

I agree. Dude plays with heart and head. He's a hustler and a winner.

When Sura came into the league, he was a 6-5 PG and was one of the first "street" white players. Then, when Jason "White Chocolate" Williams came on the scene, and when Sura got moved to the 2, people just forgot about him.

I like him, but I don't think he'd get any playing time on this team with Francis, Mobley and Jackson. The way he's playing, he should try to get as much as possible out of the Hawks.

If we get rid or Francis, Mobley, Pike, MJackson by next year heck yeah bring him in. He's been getting friggin near triple doubles these days now that he's starting. What impresses me the most is the rebounding. He's not a starter, but he would deepen the bench a lot. Like Jon Barry used to come off the bench for the Kings...

We need a passer or a front court banger to help Cato and Yao and cover up phantom PF MoT.

Sura is the kind of guy we have been getting for the past 6 years, and now our priorities should be to develop around Yao and Steve and cover up their deficiencies..

As a serviceable backup at a good price.. ~2mil.. but his face value will exceed its intrinsic value now after the hawks... might see some competition if you pursue him. I agree that he's a pretty good player that gets overlooked though. He's just too average in everything to not have PT for spot duties.

there is alot of talent out there that was just stuck in bad situations. But our coach isnt one to give unproven players a chance. Unfortunate.

I'd love to trade Mobley and MoT for a good PF, then sign Sura.

I'd be more than comfortable with JJ, Sura, Francis and Pike picking up the SG minutes. This would mean less Francis at PG, a better PF, and more size (JJ at the 2, Sura backing him up).

Maybe the Hornets would be interested in Mobley/MoT for Darrell Armstrong/PJ Brown?

    Magloire
    MoT
    Mashburn
    Mobley
    Baron

    Yao/Cato
    PJ Brown/Cato/Spoon
    JJ/Boki/Pike/AG
Sura/Francis/JJ/Pike (doesn't really matter who starts, just not Francis)
    Francis/Darrell Armstrong

I would be a bit worried about our scoring though.

The Rox need someone better than Cato. At the Hawks Stephen Jackson is throwing up some good numbers and with Larry Smith as an assistant coach there maybe a trade can be done?

The 3 *ell's are doing well for the Timberwolves while over at the Pistons they've got a pair Wallaces. Maybe the Rox can follow suit with the Jackson 3?

i dont get why people say this; if u put up numbers that means u can put up number. Regardless of where sura plays he can put up numbers cause he shows he can. He will be playing the same people if he stays in the same confernce. So logic would be he could put up those numbers on a d/f team if given a chance.

ALso the guy has another tripble double today

I can't believe a guy who's starting on the same team as players like Jason Collier, Stephen Jackson and Chris Crawford would put up numbers like that. . .

oh, wait. I can, because there's no one on that team who can do anything.

He plays most of the season on a good team - and can't get any minutes and doesn't put up numbers. Why, you ask? BECAUSE HE'S NOT A GOOD PLAYER.

He then goes to a horrid team, and gets to shoot all the time - and there's no one on that team who can rebound - so he gets those too. He's not very good - there's nothing he does particularly well and is only getting big numbers by virtue of being on a bad team where somebody has to get those shots, and get those rebounds.

We would lose significant quality if Sura were to replace any of our three guards in the starting lineup.

    Puedlfor,

You might be right...but the quality of players in this leauge is astounding. Everyone was once the biggest fish in their ponds. Sura, who recorded ANOTHER triple double tonight, was stuck in detriot along with Chucky Atkins. They were behind more star power and never got minutes. Now with Atlanta and Boston, they are doing very well. Same can be said for Flip Murray, Brian Cardnail and Janero Pargo.
