Jalen Rose, ESPN | Rose's picks
No Yao for possibly the entire season. T-Mac is recovering from surgery. And both players could be free agents after the season. Ariza was a good signing, but wins will be hard to come by this season. Brooks will have a breakout year.

    Southwest: 5

    West: 14

Does Jalen Rose not watch basketball?
How could he possibly rank us 14th in the west...

Looks exactly like every other preview up to this point. Only difference is that Jalen Rose has always hated us.

For 2 years straight, any commentary by Jalen Rose puts down the Rockets, its not unexpected...

Only the players can prove the "experts" wrong as usual

Holy crap! So according to him, we'd be worse than the Grizzlies and last in our division?

Does anyone else agree with this?

    "J.A. Adande, ESPN.com | Adande's picks
No need for one of GM Daryl Morey's stat formulas. There's no one over 6-9 or with a points-per-game average over 13 in Houston's opening-night lineup. That won't = many wins."

    "Chad Ford, ESPN.com | Ford's picks
Don't want to doubt Daryl Morey, but this roster, with Yao out for the season and McGrady coming back from major surgery, sure looks like something a computer, not a GM, would put together. Someone, either Trevor Ariza, Aaron Brooks or Luis Scola, needs to have a huge year."

I understand the desire some people have for the Rockets to just tank and get a high lottery pick. But nothing would bring me greater satisfaction than these guys to be eating their words at season's end.

Yeah, I guess he hated the Rockets last year with this preview:

"SOUTHWEST: 2 | WEST: 4 Wow, if this team can stay healthy and Artest can mix, don't be surprised if they win the West! Yao and T-Mac are All-Star starters -- do the fans still vote?). "

Thanks for all the experts doubting Rockets this is the kind of stuff that makes it nice once the Rockets prove all the haters and doubters wrong again!!

That's crazy , Jalen usually gives us props.

From a birds eye view - Everyone sees us as down and out. Maybe we are the blind.

Is this is the same team that went 2-2 against the Lakers minus Artest/Wafer + Ariza/Pops/Bud?

Althought I whole heartedly agree with you and I live to watch them eat crow, we do say this every year and they still don't get it.

Not really surprised though...it's blind opinion vs. us who scrutinizes every play of every game.

Damn, that's sad.... the only "expert" to predict the Rockets making the playoffs is Jemele Hill.... and her opinion doesn't matter

Apparently, the Clippers are projected to be ahead of us in the West standings. THE CLIPPERS.

Sorry, Blake Griffin doesn't make a team that bad suddenly rise to #9. Plus, it's THE CLIPPERS.

They don't even know what they're talking about. Yao is out definitely, not possibly. And McGrady is already reported as recovered.
