i formatted my hard drive, and ever since, have not been able to get on the internet from that computer. i have roadrunner and a wireless router, and the little computer icon on the taskbar is lit up green, which indicates that it should be working, but it isnt. i've already reinstalled the router software a few times.

    anybody have some possible solutions?

Are you connected wired or wirelessly?

If wireless what brand of adapter and what brand of router do you have?

What is you default gateway. Set it at you router address. Linksys by default is 192.168.1.1 .

What OS is it? It seems to be windows 98

The default ip address of the router is probably 192.168.1.1

To set that as the gateway:
    go to network connections

    right click on the icon

Forgot to mention a step, disregard above...

    select you wireless connection
    right click on icon
    select properties
    select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
    press properties
    and input the address.

BUT, that's if you want a static IP which you probably don't need so:

PUt in the router's IP in the DNS address.
