I just recently added my Comcast service directly through their sales line. I saw online that a Comcast retailer was offering a 99 dollar rebate if you buy their cable modem. Since the sales person I was talking to say that they are not directly part of the online site, however, they will match the offer. I already have a cable modem, but they're offering the rebate so I went ahead with it. He said the person installing my service will give me the info.

Anways... the guy who installed my service said he just does installs and doesn't know anything. I called the 1-800-Comcast line. The first person doesn't know what I'm talking about, then transfer me to another person who doesn't know what I'm talking about. He then game me a different number (1877-220-3549) to call. After waiting 30 minutes on the line... that person said she's just a salesperson doesn't know what I'm talking about.

I'll get over the 99 bucks... but I'm pretty  after nearly a hour of my time wasted.

I'm still steaming... if another service provider offered internet service in my area, I'd be all over it. But I'm stuck.

since this comcast thread popped up..

if i wanted to replace my cable modem [ive had for about 3 years i.e. pre-comcast], can i just go to the comcast store [i know there is one in sugar land] and replace it for free?

Can I only replace it if its not working? or can I replace it whenever?

    Yes. No charge.

When they asked me why I brought it in I said "I was talking to one of the tech people on the phone and they said to bring it in and replace it." It works much better than my old one.

Yup there should be one....I had a huge problem a month ago that drove me crazy before they fixed.

I have a friend that works in the Corporate part of Comcast and basically said comcast is pushing so heavily in the business side (Business internet, phone lines, etc.) that they are really losing touch with home service.

That easily can explain so many of the problems.

WOW, we're having Comcast sucks threads every week now.. Time Warner was never this bad, it's sad how I didn't know how good we had it till they're gone..

I called to add Showtime to my package the other day and I was told in addition to the normal monthly fee I was going to be charged $5.00 for a "change of service fee" .. I guess they have to pay for all those "free" Wiis and LCDs somehow..

    LAME!!!

My girlfriend called to schedule an installation in our house for when we move in a couple of weeks. They gave us a free HD DVR, free Showtime and upgrade to receive all the "basic" packages for no cost for a year. Our bill for internet, two HD DVRs, and all the channels except for Starz and Cinemax will come to around $120.

    So there. :p

I had comcast for about 7months. (Time warner for several years) Right when the switch was made to comcast I automatically started hating them. I experienced very low speeds all the time, the customer service was just horrible, and I could never get anybody to help me with my slow speeds. Every time I called in about the slow speeds they told me that they will send someone over, but there is a chance they will charge me $100 for sending someone over. Eventually I switched to windstream and I LOVE IT. I get the same speeds as I did with time warner and I only pay $25 a month.

Anyways the point is COMCAST SUCKS DONKEY BALLS.

I hope AT&T will do wonders as my new internet provider.

My parents' internet is Comcast and it's ok.

i have great deals too. It's when you start having problems and want them to come fix it and they don't show up for appointments that you will have a problem.

The fact that to fix any problem your looking at a week sometimes. Then they miss there appointment and instead of being the next person in line tomorrow you are pushed another week back.

I have a business and we used Time Warner, then Comcast after the switch last year. My business is in a strip shopping center and a hard wire line for broadband was never run into this building even though it's only 5 years old. I'm also in a dead area for DSL. So, Time Warner set me up with a unique system; wireless broadband. There was a transmitter across the street where a hard line was and a receiving antenna on my roof, so that is how I got my high speed internet. Well, in March my system went down, a fast food place down the road from me has the same system and they went down too. For two and a half weeks Comcast failed to get me back up. For two weeks I had to phone in every credit card transaction and process each sale the old fashion way; however, without the Internet I could not transfer the credit card transactions to my bank, which got scary. Get nothing from Comcast but run around and they even tell me to look into getting service elsewhere because they can't figure out the problem. So I finally drop them for satellite Internet. It has its issues with clouds and rain but what other choice did I have (T-1 is almost $400 so that's not going to happen).

Two months after dropping Comcast, their bill collecting dept calls and says I'm 2 months past due. WTF? I told them they stopped serving me what the hell is this. NICE!

Am I the only one that's never had a problem with Comcast?

If anything, I had a ****load of problems when I had that ATT crap.

well at least in my neighborhood ATT is absolute garbage. and for gamers...
DSL subscribers SHOULD NOT try and HOST games.

I used to have that 3.0 megabyte package of theirs..
    yeah right..
more like 1.5-2 megs a sec.

    I want FIOS!
