What is up with the name Gundy? <object width="425" height="353"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aoMmbUmKN0E"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aoMmbUmKN0E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="353"></embed></object> DD

Classic. Beats Dennis Green by a landslide. I don't blame the reporter though. Her piece was on the whole QB situation. She claims she has the sources, and she probably does. The guy's 21. Give me a break. He can handle criticism.
To be perfectly honest, I don't blame the guy. Especially after I read the article, and that chick that wrote it stated she "stood by her facts"!! What facts?? I think people forget that college players are still young and impressionable. Until they are being paid to play ball, there is no need to publicly ridicule them. They are already beating themselves up over their failures. It's like beating a dog that is already lying on the ground from being clipped by a car. Inhumane. Hopefully that woman does have kids someday, and she has to explain why everyone picks on him because of an article she wrote about a 21 year old football player having a bad year. As a coach myself, of course not on the same level, I can understand where he is getting defensive. It's hard to be rational when someone is blasting a kid who is trying their best to do what's right. I would imagine even on the pro level, where you know they are being paid for it. Its still got to be hard to not want to take the criticism on yourself when you know a player is doing his best and still not up to par. At any rate, good rant and fully deserved in my opinion. Plus it was a crappy article... poorly written. Just to add to the insult
I agree with what he said about reporters trying to MAKE news. That's more true today than ever before and it ain't just sports.
It goes beyond that. Everything these days is entertainment. Politics is entertainment. Journalism is entertainment. The American people want to be entertained, and don't want to do anything themselves. On top of that, we're all lost in our own worlds, shutting the outside world out via our Ipods, cellphones and computers. Death knell for human co-existence.
It was a piece of s*** article and Gundy was right to defend his player. What do you think the entire team thinks of their coach now? They're thinking that their coach has their backs.
This coach has anger management issues. I would want Mack Brown to defend his players, but what this coach did was embarrassing to himself and his school.
and if you're the parent of a star recruit you're hoping your kid plays for a guy who will go to bat for him like that.
someone made an interesting point either davies or roberts (believe it or not) about this may have to do something with the way the media in oklahoma treats ok st vs. ok. maybe gundy feels it was unfair especially considering the trouble ok was in last year with bomar and others.
I don't think the article is nearly as harsh as I thought it would be after seeing Gundy's rant on television. The article is extremely silly, though. I can't believe a journalist would base an entire article around the fact that she saw a kid's mom feeding him chicken outside the team bus. What's next, is she going to follow him around campus during weekdays and see how he behaves?
