I'm very proud to announce the birth of my son, Ian Malcolm Thompson. He arrived at 1:43 PM Pacific, weighing in at 8 pounds 8.5 ounces and 20.5 long. Fortunately it was a pretty drama free birth (especially after our daughter's birth). It took about 8 hours from once the contractions really starting going. The epidural didn't take the first time and was only party effective the second time, so my wife pretty much went naturally. In addition to being awesome, she is also a bad ass. Baby and mom are both doing fine. Dad is in a bemused state of shock and sister has no idea what's coming. I'll post pictures when we get home. They block youtube and most file sharing sites.
We wanted a Scotish name. Hence Ian. Malcolm is my father's name. We were going to use that name if our first had been a boy. Of course it doesn't hurt that both I and my dad are mathematicians. If this kids isn't a basketball player (tall genes from mother), he'll have some mad math skillz.
Congrats Scribo! Get ready - since you have a boy, they love to eat! My 6 month old is constantly eating formula and baby food like it is going out of style!
