Hey DAWGS, I need some recommendations for anime. I've run out of TV shows and movies to watch, and Lost, Spartacus, Survivor, Fringe, 24, and Stargate Universe aren't keeping me properly satiated, so I thought I'd see if there's any good anime out there (fansubs or DVD).

I haven't really watched any for a couple years, but I generally like things on the more serious/suspenseful nature. Examples: Twelve Kingdoms (favorite), Death Note, Darker than Black. As you can tell, it's not quite mainstream (like Bleach, Naruto, etc.).

Anyone know some recent ones I might enjoy? I've seen most of the intriguing older stuff (2005 and older).

I'm not quite the anime aficionado, but may I recommend the remake of Fullmetal Alchemist? It's up to about episode 50 now and the only one I watch on a regular basis.

It's decent... but seen it. :p

I went to animenfo.com to check out their top 200, and I found it rather sad how many I've actually seen.

Although it's not an anime, I think Dexter (Showtime) is awesome and right up your alley with the other shows you're watching. On the second season right now..

Oh, I've seen all 3 seasons of Dexter. I just listed shows that are currently airing; Dexter's on vacation (and I think the actor is battling cancer?).

I've been watching this on Adult Swim. I watched the first series all the way through. About what episode does this storyline (Brotherhood) diverge from the first series, because so far its been darn similar.

I would say after they meet Greed is when it really changes. I feel this adaption is superior to the first one. I will say the first adaption dealt with the nina/chimera and hughes storylines better than brotherhood. Heck, ill also say they do better at the emotional scenes but that might have to do with the first adaption being more darker themed. Brotherhood is less serious but more action(plus badass characters)

Hmm, actually, I haven't really watched the new adaptation of FMA. Perhaps I will.

    Cowboy Bebop
    Samurai Champloo

Also produced by Shinichirō Watanabe but nowhere near as good as CB and SC.
    Michiko to Hatchin

Not anime but you should check out Lexx. One of my favorite show ever. Totally original and funny as hell.

Seen Cowboy Bebop. Seen Champloo. Seen Trigun. Thanks for the suggestions, but those are all pretty common series that most folks have seen... and I've probably seen more anime than most folks.

I'll check out Michiko to Hatchin and Xam'd. I'm also investigating 07-Ghost.
