I love anime, it's great. Anyway what's your favvorite anime? Dragon ball and DBZ are cool, but I really like this one with a dead kid as the hero of the story(it was on adult swim saturday night first show).
I like DBZ and anime, also. But besides DBZ, there isn't much anime around. Well, as far as I can tell anyway. The only other anime I can think of are the ones that come on the Action channel.
Anime sucks! A lot of it is horribly dubbed and the plot lines are just as bad. DBZ is about the only one that is decent enough to watch. But I'll leave you all to be with the rest of the anime shows. Just give me a regular old cartoon anyday.
That's surprising. Although I like DBZ, most anime fans I've seen don't like it because of ITS plot line. (you know, the good guy who's weaker than the bad guy, but suddenly gets stronger.) Has anybody seen the anime-movie AKira? I heard it good, but only saw part of it. Seemed kind of cool, but kind of weird too.
Yeah, Akira is good. It's probably the best anime movie i have watched, it's sends a strong message out, but i agree it is kinda wierd...
I guess this could be spoilers I only saw about the last 30 minutes or so, so when I see a guy who's turning into a giant blob, it looked really weird. But I seemed to have a feeling that there was a good reason for it. I'm waiting for it to be on the Action channel again.
should watch Yu Yu Hakusho...I think it might be called The Poltergeist Report...its on Cartoon Network as well. If u want more anime.. go to Planet Anime in Rice Village or Yama in Hong Kong mall. You could rent a lot of good stuff there. The Yama place has sorta bootleg stuff so it has all the new stuff from Japan. If you think Anime sucks. You should catch some Miyazaki movies, infinitely better than the Disney crap. And any Lupin movie is hands down better than the movies Hollywood has released this summer.
If this is in Houston, I'd have to drive over a 100 miles just to get them. Where I live, I don't think there is many anime videos. Maybe some, but not a lot. Besides, if I really want them, I'll buy them off eBay when I'm rich.
Azadre, What exactly did you do that got your post deleted in the other thread? Don't post it again, just tell me about it. I am, once again, left out.
anime rocks. I don't really like a majority of dbz though. What really gets on my nerves is the 8 episodes it takes for one fight sometimes. Just friggin get it over with!! "Bwahaha, you may have blown off all my limbs, but now it's time for my 3rd all powerfull secret form which you will have to become super super to beat bwahaha."
That's the anime I was talking about. It's well done Dallas, I will never discuss the contents of the post on the BBS ever but AIM me under "Azadre" and I'll tell you
Dude, you have to go out and get the Clerks animated series DVD. It's got the most hillarious anime ripping you'll ever see. Project A-Ko was pretty cool.
Well, it's all relative of course...I don't think it has much of a plot line, but from what I've seen, it's at least passable. In any case - it's probably better than a lot of the stuff that's out there, like Sailor Moon. And don't even get me started on the people who love to turn anime into p*rnography... There is some good anime out there, it's just few and far between and it's usually drawn by people who have no connection to the mainstream anime popularized by DBZ and other shows. AntiSonic - thanks, I'll have to check that out at some point. I've got a friend who would probably love that; knowing him, he's probably already seen it.
I spent the first month of summer watching all the episodes to Ruruoni Kenshin and I came out a big fan of the series. I also saw the episodes of Beserk too. It's weird that the casual anime viewer has Dragonball as its staple, when anime has many different genres that use mature subject themes and doesn't patronize the viewer by dumbing down their vision. And by mature subject themes, I don't mean anime p*rn, but I admit gratuitous violence does get the message across sometimes.
I just got into anime this year and here are a few of my favorite series: Trigun Escaflowne Evangelion Fushigi Yuugi Ranma 1/2 Outlaw Star Love Hina El Hazard Serial Experiments Lain Movies: Nausicaa of the valley of the wind Wings of the Homonese Grave of the Fireflies I have a ton of stuff I still haven't check out, and I'll probably add some of those to the list. I just like how some anime is geared toward the adult mind with either the dialog, or the deepness of the subject. You could spend hours determining symbolism and hidden meanings in a series like Evangelion. B
BOOOOOOOO! YOU SUCK B!!!!!! DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! IT SUCKS!!! Seriously, the story of Nausicaa is really really good but the movie sucks. It was originally a (relatively) long Manga series. Read the Manga and the story is just immeasureably better. The movie leaves out about 90%. Miyazaki, the guy who wrote the series and directed the movie, is the same dude that wrote and directed Princess Mononoke. Btw, the same is true for Akira from what I have heard but I haven't had a chance to buy the Akira Manga yet. It's on my wishlist though. Good anime to buy includes Vampire Hunter D if you like old school really bloody anime, Macross Plus Vol 1 and 2, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
I never much cared for anime, but one of my Japanese friends showed me that new one called Metropolis recently and I was pretty impressed. I enjoyed it.
