Right now i'm digging the animation style of this movie (but I haven't seen it yet, only in pictures and trailers). What other movies are similar to this? I know only two: Corpse Bride Fantastic Mr. Fox I haven't seen any of these movies. Anyone care to make a review for each? Also, are there other movies with the same animation style that I'm not aware of? Thanks.
Wallace & Gromit have two movies out. Those are funny if you can understand a bit of that Brit humor, what's all this then?
Great movie and a favorite around our house. Corpse bride is another stop motion movie as is Coraline. I'll try to remember some others. Start with nightmare even though you just missed the peak viewing season between halloween and Christmas.
I believe he is looking for actual hand-then-rotoscope animation... you know, with REAL dolls just moved one frame at a time? 9 was good, but it was all animated on the computer. Tim Burton is pretty weird. McGravy, are you only looking for WeIrD movies, or the ones animated like N.B.C.?
Might be too dark for you but: The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb When I was in Art School I started getting into stop action and this was my movie.

Coraline - Tim Burton I enjoyed it alot, keep in mind it was presented in 3D. But cool movie none the less.
Kick it old school with the Sinbad series and the Stop Motion work by Ray Harryhausen He mastered the craft long ago. Also, the original Clash of the Titans.
Those old Rankin Bass movies like Mad Monster Party, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and other holiday themed specials. Wind in the Willows Then there are the art films from people like Jan Svankmajer and the Brothers Quay. That's CGI.
A lot of the original Tool videos were stop-motion and rather weird. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hglVqACd1C8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hglVqACd1C8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Time Burton did NOT directed Coraline. Burton only directed Corpse Bride. Henry Selick directed Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. I totally love stop motion. The lighting, props and sets design are totally top notch. The palettes are so rich in colors. You will not get this quality from CGI animation rendering. Not yet at this moment since rendering time are too expensive to have the quality look of stop motion. I wished they would invest more into stop animation. You should check THIS out. You should Youtube some of the shorts stop animation especially the one
You should watch the making of extras if you do pick up Coraline. It is mind blowing how much work goes into the stop motion. Really makes you appreciate the end product that much more.
