Were the new Rockets Power Dancer uniforms sponsored by PETA??? A top/t-shirt they ofen wear says "ANIMALS HAVE RIGHTS" Id like to know the reasoning behind this???
Not exactly. Les is a bigger supporter of animal rights causes than his EX-wife. I actually though it was his ex as well, but it isn't. It's Les, himself. That's just his thing. Gummi, to answer your question, Les is a big supporter of animal rights. The Clutch City Foundation actually got the SNAP (Mobile Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) program started in Houston and it has been a model for other similar efforts around the country. The power dancers have been wearing those for quite a number of years now. It isn't new and it isn't likely to end.
I didn't realize they were divorced! Does this mean we don't have to worry about her picking out the new uniforms?
You know the only thing better than a Rockets power dancer? A Rockets power dancer holding a double cheeseburger...
They've worn those every game since at least the championship years. They sold them in the Rockets store for a while too. I was always told it was Les' wife who was the huge animal rights activist too, but perhaps that was just what they told the media to make Les more acceptable to conservative Houston in the beginning? I think at this point he's been such a great owner that nobody would care about such a thing, but there are a lot of people who are offended by the words "animal rights". I myself am a vegan and sometimes when I tell people that and explain what it means (I do not consume any animal products whatsoever. i.e. meat or dairy) they look at me like I just said "I like to sacrifice babies." It's really crazy.
