https://andscape.com/features/houst...the-loss-of-his-father-nba-legend-paul-silas/ It doesn't seem that he is standing on his own legs emotionally as a coach. He somehow still views 'being thrown out of games, being aggressive' as valuable. Stone and Tilly made a grave mistake, there is no way around that.
Topic just invites more fluffers to demean and take cheap shots at Silas and his father. Intentionally dense fans who still dont understand whats going on and need to scapegoat someone because we would be a playoff team without Silas and KPJ!
It is not gross if you try to read. Nothing written pertained to the demise of his father. Talked about coaching and him talking to his dad when struggling. His dad died, we heard about it, but it is no reason to employ someone who is no legit coach, I talked about a paid vacation. So is it against the law to speak about a professional when his father died recently? He is emotionally not able to coach even? But sure spew haterade, please.
It sure did coincide with the Rockets needing a strong coach and a strong hand to lead the youngsters. Timing isn't on our side. RIP yes but he is still not the right coach.
You’re very clearly slamming the guy for having a relationship with his father and using it as a way to disparage him. Yah. It’s gross. You’re gross.
Well, because you think everyone criticizing his father's coaching is criticizing everyone's memory of a good father. That part is odd. You're not totally wrong as both Paul and Stephen's careers are intertwined and it is almost impossible to not talk about the one without the other. You could easily read that Stephen the son tried his way of being friendly with the players and that didn't work with younger players. The way of Paul was to swear and be tough on players, which Stephen thought was archaic once. Now we know Stephen is playing the tough guy because his way didn't work. He isn't being genuine. (It is far from disparaging if you actually tried to know what I meant instead of blindly assuming something) And it would say more about your character than mine.

His professional coaching relationship with his father when it's being a wrong approach... Yes that only. Not his private, personal. You are clearly not over Paul Silas either. I am not returning the favor as you have been unprofessional without me ever attacking you.
you are the gross one here, trying to mud the water and deflect from good thinking, new ideas and making it into a silly and personal fan dispute...
Coach is a genuinely nice guy who a) recently lost his dad; b) is in the public eye; and c) is constantly being asked about his dad. WTF do you expect him to say? "I loved my dad, but I'm a man who stands on his own! Quit asking me!" Some of you guys are just silly.
Where were you not long ago when some "reputable" contributors here were flat out disgusting in their remarks about Silas and his father when he passed? Let me guess you were the one trying to keep things on an even keel yeah?
If someone offers you an income that essentially is more than you've ever made in your entire life, I imagine most would do what they're asked to do This goes beyond the HC.
Didn't mean my reply as a knock on you, VC. I was referring to OP as silly, so he can come at me. I'm not a Silas hater like many here. In fact, I think he's done a passable job despite being given a thankless task: Try to develop these young guys while not winning our way out of a top pick for a few years. CFers like to rag on him for NOT developing our youngsters, but Green, Alpi, KPJ, KJM are all currently playing the best ball of their young careers (some more than others, obviously). Who's to say a different coach might have pushed these teenagers too hard and caused issues? Maybe Quin Snyder would've had them playing like All-Stars by now (hard to imagine, since he's never really won anything in the pros). The thing is, we can't know what another coach would have done. All we know is that Silas has brought them along slowly and despite the losing, the future here is pretty bright. So no, I'm not anti-Silas at all. I think most people here who want him gone just don't have the stomach to complete a full-on tank rebuild.
Of course. I was mostly talking about coaching habits. Clutch just laid out that Silas is growing increasingly frustrated and aggressive right now. What changed? Job on the line?
