Hah. So his whole basis for having success is factored off of the example of..... Joe Manchin.

Like I get it in concept. Yang is a cool guy, and I certainly would vote for him over an insurrectionist any day. Hell I'd maybe even vote for him over Biden if I felt he would be better suited to get things done (which is where I think he'd struggle with turning concept into legislative reality). However he's obviously not really serious about it IMO, and this is an attempt for relevance in the Democratic party where he thinks he can make a power play by having this "outsider" label.

At some point though, he's going to have to stand for or against big corporate interests in politics, climate change, etc. and it'll be obvious that he's either a Democrat or a Republican. You cannot avoid that debate as a politician. You CAN however avoid that debate as an "Independent" voter who just tunes it out and watches football, and listens to Joe Rogan as Yang alludes to here that most of Americans just want to avoid politics.

The guy thinks he should be more important in the Democratic party, and maybe he's not all that wrong there, but first off.... maybe win a damn election. His mayoral run was a freaking disaster.

His biggest mistake was telling the Knicks fans that they should have kept Jeremy Lin.

    Yang is so 2020.

    We all have moved on.

Maybe Yang and Lin can get a show on MTV or HGTV.

Oh lord.... did he really say that?? That explains the disaster of a mayoral run for NYC right there. Talk about being able to read the room

To be fair, you can slam the New York Knicks for every decision they make and be correct 90% of the time.

Why is Yang even randomly talking about Jeremy Lin in 2021? Bruh, that was almost 10 years ago.

acting like the Knicks had a young James Harden on their hands and just let him go…

The same reason why he's claiming to be part the founder of a real Third Party, and going on Tucker Carlson.... attention, and attempting to go viral. Don't believe me... start up a thread in the GARM now that is titled "Is Jeremy Lin arguably a better PG than Steve Francis"... or pick your player, or pick your random Lin topic.

Yang pulled the Lin topic out of thin air because he knew it would blow up his Twitter feed, and maybe get a segment on First Take if he's lucky.

I've been waiting for something like this to come along. The problem with 3rd parties has always been that they are too broad in scope and partisan by nature. You're never, ever going to break up the duopoly by challenging them directly or from within, you have to exist alongside them... and pull them over to you. In this way, a narrowly focused, single issue based, non-partisan party can succeed. In an electorate this polarized and evenly split, even an identification rate of 1-2% is massive and can tip an election. I'm glad he tried to reform from within first, even though it was practically doomed to fail. This is the way.

I think if you want attention this is probably the quickest way to lose it. He could be a perpetually campaigning normie Democrat and blather party line stuff on cable news for the rest of time if he wanted to. This effectively locks him in the dungeon, to which he has said as much.

His comment about the power that Manchin has is a tell on his intent here. It’s obviously because he wants more power on the left. He can’t be naive enough to believe he can stick to the whole “this is for people who just watch sports” shtick that long. At some point you’ll have to answer a question on something like abortion. Then guess what… you’ll be tossed out of the independent sphere right away.

But I think the Manchin comment is a tell. He’s salty about an embarrassing mayoral run and thinks he needs to throw a Hail Mary pass in order to gain power within the Dem party.

I don't get your point. Who isn't seeking power/influence? The question is what you plan to do with it.

You're acting like this is some sneaky end-around head-fake 4-d chess move for selfish ulterior motives.

    That seems pretty silly tbh.

Jerome James is probably looking around wondering what he did to catch that stray from Yang.
