Anyone else thing that the press is overrating Bynum? I mean he has been crap his last few season and had a decent quarter of a year and now their touting him to be the savor of LA. I took Yao 2 years of playing well for the press to finally acknowledge him. Even now some people won't admit Yao is any good..

Hes still based on "potential".. 20 games in the start of the season isnt good enough to prove that he's that great as the media protray him to be

I was thinking the same thing, and lets not forget he's coming off knee surgery, which I think he had 2 operations on. He still has a lot too prove, but this is the media overrating Centers example they still overrate Dwight Howard.

    Overrated? DUH!!!!

How much of Andrew Bynum did you start to hear after he dunked by Shaq..not even on him. Thats when it truly started, all my friends that were Lakers fans would talk about that one dunk all the time, and had nothing else to say when it came to that he was good. He was decent when it came to the start of the season but like the other guy said, he only played 20 games.

"When Bynum comes back we'll win it all!"

    Are fakers fans serious?

The media overhyping Bynum is any worse than the way they're hyping up Greg Oden? At least Bynum has actually played in a few NBA games.

The Lakers will be a better team with Bynum in the line up. Replacing Radmanovic with Bynum makes the Lakers an extremely dangerous interior team. With Gasol at the four, Bynum can clean up the boards and take advantage of the fact that most big men won't be able to guard him 1-on-1. His post skills and footwork are exceptional for somebody of his age.

Well, it pretty much says how wrong the media is again? Most of them had the Celtics going out pretty early against the Lakers or at least in 5 or 6 games. They don't know game any better than any of us, they seem to get wrong alot, even though they are supposed to be experts.

For one, Bynum is overrated, he wouldn't have made that much of difference. The Lakers were a soft team anyway and Bynum is no Shaquille O'Neal. I know he is rated high, but he is not better than Yao. Bynum will turnout be an adquate center or soild 16 ppg and 11 rebs, but he is no Yao Ming. Yao is more of game-breaker, his offensive skills nowhere to the point of Yao's ...he can't man the paint as well as Yao can.

But, still from the media, especially blow hards, you get the impression that Yao is non-factor, even though he is 22+ and 10+ rebs. And is one of the hardest players to guard in league.

Don't let the media's short sight fool ya?

Bynum isn't bad, but already considering him a top 5 center is outrageous.

He has been getting pubilcity ever since he pulled that stunt on Shaq.

So yes, he is overrated and as well as every Laker player except Gasol. He gets the amount of credit he derserves.

In 35 games and 28.8 minutes averaged per game: 13.1 Points on .636 FG%, 10.2 Rebounds, and 2.06 blocks.

    Kid is only 20.

Isn't it sad to see Kobe's career now depends on a young center Andrew "R u kidding me" Bynum who he once wanted the management to trade!

I see Bynum is following Yao's career path, that is, play great basketball for 2 months then injures for another 3 months!

You are beating up a straw man.

What "few seasons"? This is only his third season. And he is only 20 years old. He has improved in every category each year by leaps and bounds. So yeah, his potential is pretty good.

I don't hear anybody touting him "savior" of the Lakers. People are saying that when the Lakers get him back next year, they will be even better. Are you denying that?

Dwight isn't the best until he can hit foul shots. He's nowhere close to Shaq dominance that he can afford to miss free throws. He needs to take lessons from Amares FT/shooting coach it did wonders for him. As for Bynum... let's see a full season first? Yao was putting up those numbers his ENTIRE ROOKIE season.

Dwight is not even on Yaos level in terms of post moves. According to a lot of players in the league Yao ming is one of the centers you can't 1 on 1 because of his spinning jumpshots. He gets doubled almost constantly. You don't have to double Dwight and iirc Yao has eaten Dwight alive every time they've met.

Until he develops a true post game and learns how to shoot, he isn't the best.
