I have been watching the Lakers a lot (hoping they lose) but this Bynum kid, he is only 20 years old, but is just playing great. He plays big, rebounds, has some decent post moves, he is really really going to be good. I know people talk about Howard, Yao and Amare, but this kid is not far from the conversation. And at 20....HOLY COW ! DD
phil said, his motivation is money. contract year. a lot people in the league have skills, but lack work ethics. look at bobby, he is playing like crap now for bucks. have a huge contract. it doesn't hurt they are playing bucks either
It is not just tonight, he is averaging a double double...which is not bad. He just looks good and plays to his strengths.... DD
....your thread title is pretty bad...he is no where near Hakeem's level skill....maybe body....but Hakeem's skill, footwork and defensive awareness are just legendary.... this young lad gotta show me more before we can even compare him to hakeem.
He's actually more refined than Howard offensively, given that Howard has been given a lot more chances to play comparatively. But Kobe just played through Bronchitis apparently. I think the guy has yet to sit out a game because of injury this season. If the Lakers continue steaming through like they are, I think he will be a primary candidate for mvp.
Offensively Bynum is started to display a wide arsenal of impressive post moves, just like Hakeem. Defensively he is a long way away of mentioning even in the same breath as Hakeem. But he is improving at an unbelievable rapid pace and he has lots of time to do it. There are only 6 players in the league younger than him.
I am sorry man. This is the worst thread title in clutchfans history. By far... Bynum has moves. No doubt. But they are nowhere near even the initial Olajuwon moves. Really. This is a joke. Sad, sad, joke. This is a freaking joke. Sorry Dakota. JOKE
the thing that impresses me is that he is not doing it on atheleticism like D12, he's actually got good footwork and great great hands, the ball just sticks to his hands like glue, he is an elite level rebounder.
Ziggy it was more like when Hakeem was 20.....and at the UH, he didn't have any moves either... But he was an athlete that changed the game, that is what I see in Bynum. He reminds me of when Hakeem was really young. DD
I see what you are saying. I have only seen Hakeem play at UH on old classic games. Hakeem looked a lot faster, aggressive, and quicker to leave his feet
He's longer than Hakeem, but not nearly as athletic. He's playing effectively but he doesn't look anything like Hakeem in doing it. Bynum has a high ceiling but again, he is not physically anything like Hakeem.
i mean this in a nice way...i hope to god for yalls future that he isn't just playing for a contract. bynum is looking very good but being young doesn't always mean room to improve.
